I finaly have removed the dust from the discs and installed again and i must say I really like this game, that i think its to bad that kind of genre has died.
I have installed tutu that you can use bg 2 engine and i have to say i have to get used to the system. I played adnd second edition long time ago `still having the players handbook`
But later i played third edition and 3.5 and i noticed that the characters are more powerfull in the later edition of dnd. I have rolled a bg2 class swashbuckler and i noticed or is it me that because you start lvl 1 the bg 2 classes are weaker in bg 1 because they are 1. I wanted 2 weapon fighting because of the extra attack but his thaco is 22-26 because of this that makes the class weaker at the start then the classes that were original on bg1 or am i wrong?
It doesn't make them any weaker, it's just that TWF wasn't allowed in BG 1 and the huge penalties it suffers from make using two weapons not worth it at lower levels.

It's much the same in 3.5 btw. Even with the TWF feat, a lvl 1 character can't take the to-hit penalties very well and is usually much better off only using a single weapon.

Two-weapon fighting mostly shines for higher lvl characters who have very powerful weapons.
It's otherwise inferior to other options.

problem is it doenst change my main weapon thaco that stays 22 it just that i have a little change hitting with the second attack.
Have you put two dots in the twf line? Otherwise it gives -2/-6 penalties if you only put 1.
Do you have a penalty to strength?
Are you using a weapon you're not proficient with (you put no dots in it)?

Those are the only possible reasons you'd get an unbuffed 22 Thac0 for the main hand, you should start at 20 as a lvl 1 rogue.

no negative str is 18 i have 2 dots in 2 weapon no dots in short sword since i only had 2 points i think thats why i got -2 -4 i use 2 short swords so the weapons are the same size
Yes I think the -2 comes from having no dots in short swords.
Unfortunately you won't get another dot for a while on a rogue, not until lvl 3 or 4.

Still most early enemies have bad enough AC that you should be able to hit them most of the time with your 18 strength.

I'd advise you to invest in a shortbow too, bows are very powerful in BG since they get an additional attack per round, which offsets their low damage at low levels.
Plus many enemies are slower than you (bears notably) so you can easily kite them around.
Even from a roleplaying POV, the penalties to pursuing two-weapon fighting make perfect sense. It's extremely risky both offensively & defensively (but at the same time, adventuring is inherently extremely risky!).

You literally have to be akin to Drizzt Do'urden in order to employ TWF effectively. You literally have to make your 6th sense in battle be as normal a thing as your normal senses. The only reason Drizzt was able to focus unto being an effective two weapon fighter is due to his fighting chemistry with his party members AND his innate drow magic resistance, wherein he doesn't have to fear magic from surfacers as other adventurers do.

Though there is the other effective two weapon fighter, Artemis Entreri. But he's a madman. Not by choice either. He, like Drizzt, is in a class by himself. Copying either of them is a suicidal endeavor; pursue it at your own risk.

Artemis is an Assassin if you play D&D with him while Drizzt is a Ranger.

Though I want to play a game on the computer with them as my party members
