Why do we have to download the whole client (64GB) just to update the game? Larian just realeased a new patch and GOG Galaxy downloads the whole game again, although the patch is only 3,4GB. Why download 64GB?

Please fix this.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind with smaller games, but having to re-download 64gb every time there's a patch, hotfix or update is just unacceptable.
Does it really download, or is it that it is making a copy of the original files?
I know the game does that when updating, making a copy of the entire game

But agree it's a mess, now getting install error, hope this will be better in the future
easier to just uninstall the game and install agian

edit:
checked resource monitor, downloading the whole game.. Glad I'm on 500 fiber...

My game was broken, all my files too... Need to reinstall but all gog's site is down for download and gog galaxy crash... Snif... I think this problem can happen but i've not a good connexion... i can't download for the moment.
Are we all breaking the GoG server park now? My update of 63GB are failing all the time.
And no, nothing wrong in my end.

For those affected by slow downloads or having to download the whole game again, we are aware of this issue and are working to have this fixed in our next patch. For now, it may affect those with little space on their drives, or generally slow hard drives.

You may not have actually downloaded all 64GB. A lot of time, client-driven patches like this show the patching process as a download process, even when it's not really pulling that much from the server.

I'm not saying that's absolutely the case here, but, it could be.

I have my install on a nvme drive with over 70% free and still it insists on downloading the whole game again for a patch :( I love the BG series but this farce has made me stop playing for now, just can't be doing with the hassle. Speed wise I could do it, but I shouldn't have to do this for a patch.
The disgruntleds in this thread ought to complain to Larian rather than to each other.

Already done when it happened the first time ^^

It happened first time at 2018 but no one bother to read on this topic. Do you ever patched Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition? When a fix for Chinese players with controller caused full download for everyone? When you need full download 4 times per week? A mess? I call it a progress. ^_^

Completely and totally agree. I dont want to download the entire game again every time there is a patch or update. Please fix.
