Or does only Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition has it?

Don't know either, I'm afraid. The normal game does have an easy mode, and there's a cheat console that can help you get through tough fights if you want. Or better yet, download a character editor (Gatekeeper) and give your character a bunch of extra hitpoints.

But I'll say that I really doubt whether either game would benefit from such a mode, since they don't -have- a story strong enough to carry the game.

In a game like Mass Effect, sure. I can see playing that just for the space-opera and character interactions. But Icewind Dale is almost pure hack and slash, and Baldur's Gate isn't much better. There are a few nice story bits, but 80% is combat and exploration.
I never saw anything like that in the Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate, but it has a difficulty slider.
I'm trying to get into infinity engine games, and am considering getting the enhanced editions on my iPad, so I can play on the go. Since I read everywhere that the Baldur's Gate is ruthless, I would think such difficulty setting is great to try and enjoy the story.

Also the review for the iOS versions of the Enhanced Edition give a much higher score to Icewind Dale, than Baldur's Gate :S
Ipad? Does anyone know if the game plays well on that? I'd think keyboard and mouse would be much easier. Not to mention a screen big enough to see what's going on.

Anyway, if it's story you want, Planescape Torment is probably your best bet where infinity engine games are concerned. It is comparatively light on the combat (barring a few areas in the end-game) and really much more concerned with storytelling, roleplaying, conversations and characterisation. It's one of the games people very often cite when arguing that computer games can be a great storytelling medium. It's also, in my opinion, the best (if weirdest) looking of the lot. Don't think it's available for ipads, though.

The story in Baldur's Gate 1 is very basic. Baldur's Gate 2 has a better story and party members with actual personalities, but -is- quite difficult when you're unfamiliar with the rules. Even on easy mode, you would need to figure out just why nothing you do can hurt that golem or how that wizard is able to shrug off everything you throw at it and what you need to do to counter it. And some basic D&D knowledge is also helpful.

Icewind Dale is a dungeon crawler, pure and simple. It's more polished than BG1, which is the first infinity engine game, but doesn't hold a candle to BG2 when it comes to scope, story or writing. Of course, it -is- better at dungeons, for the most part. Dunno why it'd get higher reviews. Maybe because it's more focussed? Anyway, like I said, it's fairly pointless to play Icewind Dale if you're looking for high fantasy stories. It has more story than Diablo, but not much more.

Edit: Anyway, if you want to play on the Ipad, I get why that story-mode might be a requirement since I don't think you'll be able to access cheats. If you don't want difficult and occasionally frustrating (but also rewarding) gameplay, Baldur's Gate might not be your best bet. Since I never heard anything about either enhanced edition game having a story mode where you're invulnerable, which apparently is what the story mode does in IWD.

Snowstone: Or does only Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition has it?
BG2EE hasn't been updated in like a year (long before Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition was purchasable). We will have to see what the next update has for it (though they have yet to announce this).
