After realising that nowadays RPG Games aren't just doing it for me, I decided to once again install BG1/2; of course If i do this I will install the real deal, the BIG WORLD MODIFICATION.

Can someone insure the gog version is working with this?

(Also, is it possible to buy bg1 and 2 togehter and save some money? 20 Dollars are actually a lot money :) (i.e. like buying it in amazon and save 5 dollars....)

I would personally buy this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005JQ064A/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=legeofleef-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005JQ064A

(ref link included)

It has BG1 + 2, Icewind Dale 1+2, Temple of Elemental Evil and Planescape Torment all in one box for under $20.

EDIT: A review says they couldn't get Easy Tutu to work with that set, so you may want to check around to see if anyone has gotten your mod to work with it.

EDIT 2: Someone said in the comments of that Amazon discussion that the files are the same ones that GOG has.

I would still get them from gog. These are big games, you don't have to buy them all at once. Buy, play, buy the next one later. Anyway, ignoring all other reasons, there's one important point. You get support for them. Not official GOG support, but with all the other players around here having the same game as you, chances are someone else already answered your question. Just check this out: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/baldur_s_gate/?search=big%20world . That's more than you get with the other pack.
Remember, there's a search function. Heck, even the Big World modders are around here sometime. If you get them from Amazon... well, check the reviews.

I disagree, get the box set. The files they use are the same ones provided to GOG. I love GOG, but it's a different of nearly $40. As far as I have heard from people who bought the disc set the mods work perfectly.
Eh..

The review saying Tutu doesn't work. Read the comments, there might also be a fix.
Meh, better to go with tried and true and avoid the headache. I'm always wary of compilation packages for games, particularly ones with mods.

Impulse has the Amazon-like compilation for $9.99 right now. That's a serious bargain.
Thank you for the infos! Bought BG1/2 on gog anyway :P

My decision dependet on the fact that (1) i don't need any cds (as my cd drive is broken :) ); and (2) german amazon has only german bg1/2 :) ; (3) I already know Planescape torment and all the infinity games as I played them 5+ times.

Why I play Bg1/2 again? because of the banter and new mods :D

BIG WORLD seems to be working although I have some minor issues, but I think these are partial BIG WORLD depended.
three issues, now works like a charm :) with BWP : 1 name the files in a correct way 2. get arround the loop 3. get BGT to get installed correctly http://www.shsforums.net/topic/54001-bgt-will-not-install-through-big-world-installbat-installs-fine-manually/ :)

Never used impulse. Is it like STEAM where you have to tie it to an account or be online? Or is DRM free like GOG?
Impulse is like a bad version of steam. You buy games, they appear on a list if you launch impulse but unlike steam you can play the games offline once installed without having to go through any "go offline" process. The reasons why I say it is bad is because the selection tends to be worse (which isn't relevant in this instance I'll admit) and I've found the game backup feature to be much more clunky than Steams. As for DRM I'm not sure, I do know that I've never seen any install limits on the games I own on the service.

geoguy2011:
Thanks. So can you back up locally or are you dependent upon impulse?> I'm the kind that buys from GOG, then backs them up to my own server. Right now, I have ISO's on there of all my BG and IWD games, but its a pain to go through and mount each one.

I missed the big AD&D sale here, but would gladly pay $10 (or even 15) to get all four games in a downloadable format and ditch my ISO's.

It's not as "intrusive" as Steam, but it's very similar. You have to install Impulse and have an Impulse account. You do not have to be online to play. Impulse is just the online store client -- no screen-shot taking, social networking or anything like that.

They used to be owned and run by Stardock (makers of Demigod, Sins of a Solar Empire, Galactic Civilization) who has a very anti-DRM policy. But as Impulse sold more stuff, they allowed a lot of DRM in. Now it's owned by Gamestop and I don't see much care being taken regarding DRM. The Anthology says Impulse must be installed, but I wouldn't doubt that is has some sort of digital SecuROM or something similar to it.

If you want to know exactly what you're getting, GOG is the premium place to get the content, but with a premium price, too. The compilation on sale is $9.99 at Impulse, GOG's sale got it down to about $30 once. So it all depends on what you want to pay for.

If you want all of these games on the budget, then $9.99 is a crazy good price. If you got the money, $59.94 for all the games isn't a horrible price either.

EDIT: One annoying thing with Impulse is that it gives you ads every time you boot up your computer unless you disable it. It's a pain to find the disabler, though. I think you have to right-click on the Impulse icon on your bottom right and then find some settings options under that.

Yeah, don't want to deal with that. Guess I will just wait until the next sale here! Thanks!
