Well, okay, technically I didn't kill Khalid. Greywolf did, and I opted not to replay the fight for the 5th time or resurrect him. So I'm more like an accessory after the fact.

But right now, I'm really enjoying the Khalid-free good life--no more whiny voice-overs, no more complicated strategizing around a fighter who is a lousy tank and a mediocre archer. And I get to keep Jaheira, whose hyper-critical ranting I find funny, and whose store of healing spells is handy to have around right now. But I'm playing a BGT install, and I'm wondering if Khalid's early demise will mess up the beginning of BG-2. Does anyone have any prior experience with this? Am I needlessly worrying?

Well, as you know, Khalid is dead in BG II, so you don't have to worry. If you mean the " We were both with you and then he got killed" don't worry neither, because I don't play with any of those characters (jaheira, khalid, minsc or dynaheir) in my party and she stills "remembers" the "good old times".
So stop worrying, because you will start BG II as usual ;)

Ok, then. Thanks for relieving my paranoia! :-)
