Ran BG1 and loved it. Unfortunately failed to install Tutu so I seem unable to use my player character from that game. Can't even import Bioware pre-rolled character. Any attempted import brings up a message telling me to specify whether the import (character file or saved game) is from BG1 or BG2. BUT, there is no way to enter this information--no tab, button, field, etc. that I can find.

More importantly, the bottom menu chatters--rapidly blinks on and off making it impossible to open a submenu or take any action. I can freeze the submenu only by pressing the SHIFT key.

FYI: I am running the game on an Alienware M17X-R3 machine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game outside the PROGRAM FILES (x86) folder, which is a common recommendation for flickering problems. I have experimented with refresh rates, screen resolution, 3D support and OpenGL controls, I've tried it with and without the Gibberlings 3 Tweak Pack. I've even taken the drastic action of running an absolutely untweaked, unmodified, plain vanilla installation. Nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, you don't need Tutu to use your BG1 Character.
Just copy the last saved game from your BG1 saves into your BG2 saves.

The Chargen screen should look like the attached pic.
And once having done the above, you would just click on saved game.
