Hello everyone!
It's been a dream of my childhood to play BG 1 and hurray! now I have a copy from GoG along with some disappointment made not but the game itself but by the way it is outdated by now
I'm using Windows 7 on acer laptop with nvidia 9600M (and latest drivers, of course) but the game is running extremely slow, like a slideshow. I sacrificed transparent shadows (turned them off) which made the game at least playable, but the problem reappers any time any charachter uses magic.
I'm sorry to ask for help, cuz I know I'm not the first one to complain, but the search for "aaaaaaa I need help" didn't have any positive results.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I've experimented a bit and realized, that it is the sound of magic casting that causes the game to run slowly. I've turned off a corresponding sound option and seem to have solved the problem! But've created another - now I have no sounds of casting=)
Hope, there are other ways to solve the problem (the first one).
Any ideas?

The sound of spells or the spell animation? Try turning on/off 3d animations and 3d acceleration.
by saying "sound" I actually meant "sound". Turning off one of the _sound_ options (sorry for don't remembering the name of the actual one) helped me a lot, though I'd like that option to be on.
How do you suggest to turn on/off 3d animation and/or acceleration? I mean, where can I do that?
Anyway, thank you for response=) I was so lonely there with my problem
EDIT: Dang, you're using BG1. Must rethink options.
