Yes, really. This game is 15 years old. It's there in the description:

"Works on: Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8), Mac OS X (10.7.0) and Linux (Ubuntu 14.04, Mint 17) "

You may try the Enhanced editions for Windows 10 compatibility.

Some users had better luck removing the DDRAWFIX from Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 on Win10. Be sure to try that. (not sure how, but I'm sure there's a file or something that says DDRAWFIX).

If it's still broken, you may want to consider a dual-boot system to help you run old games. Unfortunately, Win10 is in a big state of flux and there's no way to predict where it's going. I'm sure the GOG folks are working hard to get it supported, but it might not happen soon.

Some GOG folks have complained that MS has deleted their games and saves without the OS even asking if it had permission to do it. So at least you still have your games!

Good info Thanks ... I finished Dragon Age Inquisition and several friends had mentioned how they loved BG2 so just recently purchased and started playing. I love the game so far - Chapter 4.

An FYI for windows 10 users - it looks like if I just slow down a little when using the inventory screen the crashing drops a lot. And the quick save has much more crashes. So I keep a Save about every hour of game play and name for area or quest I'm working - and use Quicksave for mini accomplishiments.
This has allowed me to keep playing just a few seconds slower when in the inventory screen.
So I do feel lucky ... and I'm determined to complete this game. Again thanks
