Out of nowhere this console action RPG is being re-released with little changes for incoming DA release later.

Publisher Interplay Entertainment and developer Black Isle Studios will release Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on May 7 for $29.99 / £29.99 / €29.99 with enhanced graphics and up to 4K resolution on supported devices, the companies announced. Local cooperative play is also supported. PC and mobile versions are due out later in 2021.

Price is $29.99.

I heard that PC version was made by CD Projekt's branch responsible for Saint's Row 2 PC port? Way back when Black Isle was still doing games and Interplay was still publishing games while jumping into console segment by turning some of his IPs into action games with RPG elements.

I hope they brought a good amount of air freshener to get rid of the stink after digging up the corpse of Black Isle Studios.
Does this they gonna release a remastered version of Daggerdale?
I've heard varying opinions on this game. How does it hold up?

I recently played it and its sequel, and I have played the Fallout Brotherhood of Steel derivative.

I would not call it bad, but it is genuinely a console action game with a Baldur's Gate/Forgotten Realms skin on it, and references to the lore in the RPG modules.
Some people at the time compared it to Diablo, but I don't think that is accurate. I would say, it is a more a Gauntlet like game with a plotline.

The plotline is okay, it is not half assed. But it is nothing spectacular either.
I don't know it would have brought new fans into AD&D for example.

But price wise, I think this game is too expensive for what it offers.
The Snowblind Engine games were my favorite action-RPGs on PlayStation 2.

Dark Alliance 1 has great atmosphere and superb voice acting which kinda make up for that okay-ish plot and dialogues. Both games feature beautiful music (Elfsong tavern!) by Jeremy Soule (DA2 reuses some of the tunes from the first game, but also includes new score by Craig Stuart Garfinkle).

That said, DA1 has some of the worst platforming sections in the genre and DA2 is too long for its own good. If you are not intimidated by platforming and endless Diablo-like hacking and slashing, you could give those games a try.

So what did you think of Champions of Norrath and its seque?

Having played FOBOS1, I know FOBOS2 would probably have been crap. Most likely even.
But still, I wish I would have been able to play it.

Edit: hearing Dwight Shultz was cool, and the game despite being older than FOBOS is just so much better.
It makes me wonder what FOBOS would have been like if it had been done by a team that actually cared for the lore and actually put more effort into the final product.
