Okay, I've downloaded and installed Baldur's Gate 2, and I'm getting horrible lag even in the menus. Every couple seconds the game stutters for a couple seconds. I've tried just about everything - No 3D acceleration, no hardware acceleration in DirectX, no ambient sounds, no anti-virus.... The game is playable, but to frustrating do really be played. I'm desperate, this is like my favorite game ever. Please help!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Toshiba Satellite
Intel Core i3 CPU 2.13 GHz
4 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics (video card)

Have you tried setting the CPU affinity for this program? I had a similar issue and that seemed to clear it up. Plays great now.

1. start the game, minimize to desktop
2. hit ctrl-alt-del and open task manager
3. go to processes tab, click "show processes from all users"
4. find BGmain.exe (or something similar to that), right click it and select "set affinity"
5. uncheck "All processors" choose either one of the CPUs and click 'OK'
6. go back into the game and it should run much better now

Hope that helps.

Tried it. Tried everything, nothing works. I might have to resort to an XP emulator and hope for the best...
