Hello,

After playing this game for years, I've discovered how good a throwing build is with that kung fu movie weapon. I'm having issues with the game and this build. The loading clock that appears on the upper right, 1 o'clock of screen keeps popping up and slowing things. This only happens with this build, any input on this?

One more thing, what exactly does Perception help with when you use ranged weapons? It doesn't seem to increase the damage of firearms or even the accuracy. Putting points into "firearms" helps the accuracy so what does Perception do? I always pump it up with gunslingers, but don't notice much. Perception does nothing for throwing characters either correct? nothing for a boomerang?

I can't answer the first part of your post, but this I've got.

If you're building a character who will be using Firearms, Prowling, Spot Trap and/or Disarm Trap, then you need to build your PE in order to add more levels in those skills. Otherwise, it's a dump stat.

Technically, what it does is let you scroll the screen further away from your character, so that you can spot enemies sooner (before they can see you). I believe each point of PE adds something like half an inch (1 cm. or so) of extra scrolling in each direction.

It does not increase accuracy for Throwing (or Bow) at all. It increases Firearms a little bit on its own, but mostly by allowing you to unlock the ability to increase skill levels. It may also extend the range for not receiving a distance penalty to accuracy; I've never bothered to test this, so I don't know for sure.

Because PE does turn out to be so useless for Throwing, one of my go-to backgrounds is the Professional Knife Tosser; in exchange for a -1 penalty to PE, I get almost a full additional rank of Throwing skill. Jackpot!

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know about the screen scrolling and perception. i was just wondering what the stat did besides allowing you to add more ranks to Firearms.

I've an issue comparable to this with UAP. Sometimes the clock starts spinning and spinning, non-stop and it does slow the game.
I've figured some workarounds :
-identify every item,
-make new save until one successfully fix the glitch,
-go to P.Schuyler & Sons underground (it could be because i'm stocking all my stuff there?).

Perception does absolutely nothing directly for a thrower.
When there's a penalty to vision (blur, call fog, darkness), a perception check is required and failing this can affect your ToHit.
So a high PE doesn't improve your TH but reduce the penalties you can get on it.

This being considered, perception can be very useful for a weapon with a TH bonus (Azram's Star) but useless for a weapon with no TH bonus (aerial decapitator).

Another example of a stat to consider is intelligence : 20 INT = +10% TH.

I got it real bad again while fighting the kung fu master for the aerial. The clock kept blinking and it slowed down to a stutter. Didn't check to see if I had any items that needed to be identified, usually going in a dungeon fixes it for me, that's probably why going to Schuyler fixed it for you. I don't get it with any other builds though, just throwing.
Would you mind to test this : stock your aerial somewhere and try with another boomerang?

I been getting it with Azram's Star as well, but not as bad. I just go into any dungeon now and come back out to fix it.
I don't have a solution although it looks like there's a data corrupted somewhere.
Try to save just after you exit a dungeon and play with this save?
