ive got my game (the original download from here not this new version today), installed on win 7 64bit and it appears to work perfectly although i havent played any lengthy game sessions on it.

what exactly was supposed to be wrong with the game before this new download?

i dont want to download 1gb again if all it did was fix some UAC thing which doesnt affect me.

GOG said that the new version was simply made to work better with Windows 7 for those who had problems with it. They said that if the game worked fine for you before, then there is no reason to redownload it.
