Have to reinstall due to a binkw32.dll problem but don't want to have to lose my current status. Can't find any obvious save files in the games directory. Can someone point me in the direction of the saved files so I can back them up? Thank you.

C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Arcanum\modules\Arcanum\Save is the default location.

cogadh: C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Arcanum\modules\Arcanum\Save is the default location.
Yeah, it's wherever you installed Arcanum, and then inside the modules\Arcanum subfolder, as cogadh said. I can personally confirm that simply copying the "Save" directory into your new install folder works like a charm. You can also copy individual save directories from within the "Save" folder if you don't want to copy them all.

Thank you, fellas. I was looking under the C:Sierra/Arcanum.

You shouldn't have that directory with the GOG version. Did you install something like additional modules? If so, it sounds like you probably installed it in the wrong location.

Let me guess, you were installing something like the unofficial patch or the widescreen fix and didn't check the install path? One of those defaults to the game's original installation path (I can't remember which one), which was C:\Sierra\Arcanum, but in order to install it in the GOG version, you need to tell it where GOG has it installed.

I think it is. Now I just need to figure out what it is I installed there.
