im trying hard to play my limited ver of the game ( i preordered it) and it came with bonus stuff

its a legit game, non gog version
but I cant get it or many other games gog offers to run on win 7 64 bit

upon install of the game, win says didnt install correctly install the right way? sure .. ok
upon patch install .. same
upon unofficial patch install below

Hq maps.exe also has the same error .. did not install correctly

all the ad packs , one came with my game, darksouls , etc same errors

playing the game, doesnt play

faults with didnt install correctly type message only ended, saying in logs its dx issues or files causing the issue,
also i installed to stock c:\sierra not programfilesx86 it might be an issue

anyone help?

does the gog version allow for the unoffical patches? does it come with the mods (not fan ones but the real omitted ones)?

same question and errors for many games like
deus ex, nox, arx fatalis etc
list is endless, im lost how gog gets it to work on win 7 64

The GOG version runs as intended on my Win 7 64-bit machine, as does Drog's unofficial patch.

I still have my original CD, but I've never tried to install it on a 64-bit system. If you do succeed, make sure your version has the latest official patch, which IIRC is version 1.0.7.4. Assuming you can get everything else to work, so should the unofficial patch as well.

If you can't get the game to work, or even to install correctly, it could be a conflict with another program or driver on your system. That's not a problem I can help you with; all I can say is to read through some of the "Help me" threads to see if anything there might apply to you.

What do you mean by official mods? If you're referring to Vormantown, then yes, that does come included in the GOG version.

Or you can just spring for the GOG version, which comes patched up to 1.0.7.4. It should work straight from the download; and if it doesn't, then you'll know for sure that the issue has something to do with your machine. Good luck.

well my original came with 3 cds not 2.. one is just a side mod mission.. official,
not like fan made,

as for the unoffical patch it halts saying not win 64 compat make sure im running 32 and yes i tried compat modes

not sure what u mean by a driver thing,
got a 7950 hd radeon

but the log crashes are all dx related,

minus the unofficail patch, is there a link that you have to a working patch for that drogs?
as all the files i get are the same and are not supported by 64 bit, unless its just that the dir I installed to was not
program files x86

maybe thats the issue? not sure

but all together i cant find nor install the tronk mods and omitted mods made by sierra and i dont even know what vermatown is.(verm came installed on my copy stock, the dat file is in the mod dir..)

any links for me? that I could try?

again tried 3 different sites for the unofficial patch, all are the same files and wont even run muchless install correctly

let me know, if not ill spring for gog, but seems such a waste, u can get this game for .99 cents anywhere really,

not sure what makes gog so expensive for old games but if its some custom installer that makes things work on newer end machines (like hi res pack doesnt see my highest res and even if it worked im sure the font wouldnt go that big) even with the mod

You're right in that I have the 2-CD set, not the 3-CD one, The links in the first post of the stickied thread are the ones I use, and I use them on the GOG version.

If they won't work for you, then whatever your system's problem is, it's beyond my ability to diagnose or solve. My guess is that there's something on your computer causing the issue, but I have no way of knowing what it is. Hopefully someone else will come along with some more helpful suggestions or advice. :/

got the game to work!

after finding the patch unofficial, and after removing the hires pack, the patch installed fine, seems it was a bad file dl mixed with the mod for hi res maps

as the drog patch comes with hi res stuff, (just not like the other pack)

sadly the games interface was changed so drastically now i cant figure out how to play, when i was a master before

even the keybinds arent the same, lol

anyway the game runs, but its a bit clunky vs the older non modded model,

took me ages to figure out how to even read the odd new ui, but after that, well i love this game to death :P and i miss working for and with old sierra, before the lucas arts and sierra downfall :(

check out my new friends at telltale games (ex lucas arts people) and then some insane awesome artists like mark darin and jake rodkin, all old mates and ive helped on many of the games, sam n max, strongbad, monkey island (are all games im in the credits for) :P

Hi Res Patch is supposed to be applied last after installation. Drog Patch definitely before it, and if you hi-res after it works fine.

I think Drog's Patch might have some issues with certain foreign versions of Arcanum, though, and English seems like your second language. So there might be some issues going on there. Arcanum game files reference actual words in the game files, and so some translations changed the words that appear but not all the proper ones in the game files and it can cause some problems.

I also know from the forums there are a lot of foreign players who use drog's UAP and play Arcanum, so it can't be all bad.

NOTES

The patch requires a vanilla English version of the game, patched to 1.0.7.4 (the last official patch). Any modifications that weren't meant for the current version of the UAP will most likely cause problems. Thus, don't use any mods if you're not sure what you're doing.
SAVES FROM OLDER VERSIONS AREN'T SUPPORTED AND WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS. Don't even try.
The CD check has been removed.

what res do you all run it under?

tried just a simple 1024x768 boost but looks no different with the hi res pack,
even the buildings dont match the before and after screenshots (stuck on the before shots)

Easy. All of the telegraphs you posted and the lack of capitalization. 800x600 or 640x480 even. Now I forget. I didn't install the High-res patch.

I have to admit I didn't think English was your first language either. Maybe it's the way you've chosen to break up your sentences.

For the record, I uninstalled the hi-res patch after trying it once. It actually worked against me, shrinking the game down to a window instead of making use of the full screen.

the hi res patch does indeed allow you to pick a res, then using the full screen option the IN GAME graphics are indeed full screen ..
but the videos and menus arent re encoded so the main menu and video starts will be in a smaller box but the main game works fine in even 1024x768 and even higher without fault

only problem is .. higher u go the less you can read as max font is 14, so
ive tried a few res and the main one that works well is just one bump up

so 1024x768

and well Im fluid in 3 languages, english being my primary and 1st language, spanish and italian being 2nd and rd

strange input, .. ive been told im retarded or a kid before (im 36) but never not a native English speaker :P

sometimes I accidently treat forums as if it were msn or irc etc... so my pauses and ... and such might lead you to this assumption or paradigm about me lol

let me know if you got the hi res patch working in full screen mate, it does for me, supports loads of res even skewed ones
