Trying to run Ag zero using wine (obviously). Hardlocks at the loading screen. Probly crashing on the intro vid. Anyone solve this? All my searches came up meh.

...also it would be nice if anyone knows how to get a non-nerf'd version. Haven't played the game yet so I don't know if that even matters. It's just that censorship pisses me off. Thanks ppl :)

I think only agarest 2 was censored. Don't know how to help you about your issues since i am on windows and most japanese games need a codec from k-lite mega codecs pack

My knowledge of this is obsolete, and my system is currently not set up to play wine games any more, so I can't verify, unfortunately. From my notes:
winetricks for movies: quartz amstream devenum wmp9
Also, at the time I last played the game, I needed to use wine-5. wine-6+ didn't work (no videos, slow flashing menu). Maybe that's changed (esp. since I didn't try dxvk's d3d9), but like I said, I can't even test any more.
Also, no DLC enabled == guaranteed crash; still frequent crashes on game start.
For Agarest Zero and Agarest 2, my notes for wine say the following:

export WINEARCH=win32 # use 32 bit WINE prefix
winetricks quartz wmp10 d3dx9_43
wine LAVFilters-0.77.2-Installer.exe

You can download the LAVFilters installer from https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases
In conjunction with wmp10, it enables proper video playback (except for A2, where the main menu video background has no music for whatever reason).

Tip: edit AgarestZero.ini and set "LockWindowFrameRate=45.000000" to speed up battle animations.
I don't know if "WINEARCH=win32" is a hard requirement. At times it improves compatibility with the winetricks stuff, so I only use 64 bit for very recent games.
Long time ppl, thanks. I will look into all you all have said. Not even sure if the game is worth it, but when there's time I will try again. peace.

Thanks to all. b out
