Site Achievements
It is entertaining. I found site achievements here uk.gamersgate.com/ (some drm-free games)
PLEASE, don't! Site exclusive badges are a great reason many people hate some storefronts because they feel they need to have them all, but they can't, and that produce them suffering. Please, don't add them, but if they manage to get implemented somehow AT LEAST don't add seasonal exclusive badges like Steam does, badges that can only be get one time in life or by buying hundreds of game none has time to play in their entire life.
Maybe more like in the discord forums for logging in for certain amount of days in a row, having finished profile, posting a link, etc.
You can currently see how long someone's a member, so that part is completed - although I'm not a fan... But the number of games should stay private. I wouldn't want a community where people get treated differently based on the number of games they own.
Yes!
Please let us collect those achievements, something like steam client
This always feels like a dark pattern to me. So much so that consumers now see it as a 'perk' somehow. Sure it would get people to buy more games, but there's no inherent skill in gaining these achievements. You just need to open your wallet often or at certain times of the year. I don't like dark patterns that get you to buy things you otherwise wouldn't as this often detracts from the content. I buy games on GOG because they make it easy to purchase and backup games, not for some exclusive site-based fiat. This always ends in a race to the bottom. Pleas don't do this.
As a achievement hunter then yes
Are you suggesting incentivising buying more games for the street-cred even if you never intend to download or play them? That sounds like something that would benefit GOG's pockets but provide no advantage to any of the rest of us.
Hmmm.... might be cool to get achievements when you collect an entire series of games, or have a certain amount of games from a certain developer/publisher. It would be another metric someone could base their collecting habit off of so that they could see how much of a specific genre they buy/from who they buy it.
Would make this feature super cool if it allowed you to share them with others (through user interaction) or to keep them private to oneself (THE DEFAULT OPTION).
It would be like collecting stamps and being able to admire them on your own or share that collection with others! Plus it would act as a way to get more games into more peoples faces and help them discover better games without being intrusive!
Please, no. I don't like the idea of the GOG's community competing to gain little medals.
I know but Site Achievements seem painless to implement and together with a optional public profile would add more depth to the GoG's website. Also as it stands right now, it's only a wish for a future feature.
Quality, not quantity. We have signup date and rep.
The new gamersgate website seems to have done this! How cool would it be for GoG to be similar?
