Yes. Just... yes. YEEEESS!!!! :)
Pls purchase Ubisoft as well. And when you own EA, please restore Bioware to its former glory.
CD Projekt probably doesn't have the kind of money to buy EQ, but GOD! wouldn't that be the mother of all ironies!
LOL :D I don't think CD Projekt has such a budget...
Upvoted because the wish is awesome :3 Electronic Arts Inc. Stock Quote & Summary Data: http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/ea
Lol, and do the same with $quare-Greedix and their Final Fantasies, Dragon Quests, Terranigma, Chrono Trigger, ...
Would be fun to help gog buy some small EA studios. Let me know when the Kickstarter page is up so I can have an appropriate gog T-Shirt =P
I'm not a wall street guru but I calculated it would take $7,739,750,000 to buy a controlling share of EA _if_ we waited for the price to drop to $25 per share. It's been down to $11.41 before but its currently rising and I don't think we could hope for lower than $25 anytime soon. Anywho, divide 7.7 billion by the number of GOG users to get individual price. Clearly we would need outside investors. Buying EA piecemeal might be a better option. That is, liberate studios and franchises from them that aren't making enough profit (or none). This gets us many of our old games. Then sell these studios and franchises and let someone else make new games with them. We keep rights to the old games and get some cash again. The cycle repeats when we liberate more bit and pieces of EA.
I'd give at least $100 if they crowd sourced this.
if they crowsourced this EVERYONE would insert their dollars into it
I voted Yes. I always liked Sci-Fi. :-)
This is so insane that it just had to be voted for by me ^^
We could start an investment fund investing in EA shares. After investing a couple of billion dollars (maybe via Kickstarter) we should achieve the 50% limit.
This is so funny, I'm actually tempted to vote for this :D
You see this ALL wrong... EA Games development..yes...let them do the work... Then after a few months of hyped sales pitchings.. Grab the game cuz sales have dropped like 90%... Have game on GOG for a fraction of the cost with no DVD checks, DRM loader problems and whatever...
Yes to releasing their games DRM free. No to buying them. No one wants to buy stupid trash. Especially, the expensive, successful, stupid trash...
Mmm, guys, as for voting for 'release EA-games DRM free', you're voting for something that's already there: http://www.gog.com/games##devpub=electronic_arts It would be more sensible to vote for particular games that you miss, I'm counting 64 EA games already here.
Well, while this isn't too realistic (at least in near future), I'd love to see some of the older EA games on the market again and without DRM. Their own eshop offers only the games from a certain year up. The old ones are only on cdroms or not even there. And on torrents, sometimes with a virus. So, GOG, it would be awesome.
This probably falls under the category of impossible to fulfill requests unless EA goes bankrupt and none of the other game publishers want to purchase their titles; in the event of a bankruptcy what would probably happen is that GoG would acquire any that are abandoned by other remaining AAA publishers.
why would you buy Enough Already games? especially the current ones? but even then i doubt they will allow it
It would be awesome. EA makes some awesome games but the company itself is just absolutely hated.
Loving the idea, then I might actually have respect for the company because it'll be in the hands of people who actually treat their customers like human beings. Sadly that's not going to happen. A wonderful dream none the less :)
DON'T WORRY, EA IS NOT GETTING OUTOF THS PIT. In the next five years EA will fall into the same pit it's cast Bullfrog, Ensemble, and so many others, and be smitten by Steam, GoG, and the general populous into the burning hell it's destined for. Religious fervor, ho!
Oh my, I can imagine it now... Sims 4, that won't cost you $2500+ to get everything. A *good* SimCity game again. Maybe, just maybe, a REMAKE of the ME3 we all wanted and should have gotten. Too bad it will never happen.
Why this has no "in progress" tag yet?
Dreams sometimes come true ...
If you compare buying and playing an EA game to buying and playing a GOG game, it would be like comparing eating dog poo to eating bacon.
EA, Challenged by every thing.
DO IT..... DO IT NOW!!!
Ha ha, this has to get a vote from me. But thinking seriously about it, it would be pretty damn cool if GOG actually did get some of the original titles that first got EA going. How nice it would be to be able to play the Archon series and Murder on the Zinderneuf as full-blown GOG packages.
Looking through all the wishlists and found this...made me lol. +1 vote.
By the way...maybe Gog could start a kickstarter project for that. Destroying EA&Steam would be worth donating a few dollar..and if everyone donate...
A dream...a wonderfull dream... but...what's the wise mens telling..."a human beuing wihtout a dream is not longer one ;)"
Man if GOG can purchase EA Games... I will die happy (^.^)
EA is pure *EVIL*. While actual takeover might be s-f level getting their catalog drm free is definitely realistic so a vote for that.
We can only hope. HOPE HARDER IT ISNT WORKING YET
We can only wish!! :)
This will never happen. But as someone who has purchased an EA game that wouldn't work because of their DRM and when trying to troubleshoot the problem EA basically told me that I am a pirate and should go away, so I am voting for this on principle.
As long as EA doesn't buy GOG, there is still hope for humanity. :D
Just sittin' here and waitin' for 'in progress' tag to appear. >:]
Could certainly start with buying some of the studios EA has run to the ground and then fired. Would frankly not surprise me a whole bunch if companies like DICE are extremely happy with what they have to do to keep working for EA either. I mean, they probably won't sell the company. But if alternatives really existed, people would gravitate there. It's not like most game-developers stay in the business because they love money..
What are the chances that CD Projekt could buy the biggest company in gaming? Still, we can wish.
EA, Activision, and UbiSoft. Oh, and Atari SA (ex-Infogrames).
Right now it seems silly, but hey GOG even pulled it off to finally bring in System Shock 2...
