Option to browse reviews by rating(like on Amazon)
This is a very important feature. If I am unsure about a game and have to check the reviews first, I do it on Steam and buy the game there.
+1 and BTW there are multiple duplicates of this request so actually more people might want it than have voted this.
Why would this be helpful?
The current system puts "helpful" reviews first. This would be a good idea if negative reviews were not always downvoted. Negative reviews can be downvoted by fanboys who can't accept the game they loved had flaws (in the case of old games) and for new games, friends/relatives of Indie developers might want to "help" them, while bigger companies can "hire" people to post praises and then there are bots to downvote anything negative. Bottom line is i tend to skip every positive reviews and go right for the negative ones when i'm planning to buy a game. If the negatives are for features i'll probably live with, i know i can buy the game. Every game has some flaws, so i want to know what they are.
Being able show only negative reviews would really help.
I would definitely like to see this feature. It can be really hard to find critical reviews on here.
agreed, and it would also nice to restore the ability to sort reviews by date again www.gog.com/wishlist/site/show_date_and_time_of_comments
Totally agree.
Ended up here by trying to add a wish with the same title :)
Agreed. With the average rating in mind, I'd prefer to read the bad reviews first. In this way I could decide faster whether the downsides of a game are real deal breakers or not.
Bump.
I'd really like this. Rating by 'helpfulness' is not helpful at all since the most positive reviews are being upvoted by fans driven by nostalgia.
Just dare to write a review for a popular 20 year old game, giving it less than 5 stars and note that the graphics is crappy. You'll see how quickly your review will become 'unhelpful'.
I often find that the most useful reviews are the ones that are gushing 4 and 5 star reviews and the, often acerbic, one star reviews. So I go to the high score reviews to get what's good about the game, but I also need the low score reviews to see what wrong with it.
At least display the statistics (how many 5 stars, 4 stars, ..., 1 stars) when hoovering over the average rating. The width of the distribution also tells you something.
I fully agree. A amazon-like option to select reviews with a certain rating would be helpful.
