Anime non-dubbed with subtitles

I've never understood why none of the streaming services offer non-dubbed with subtitles. It seems like every nerd I know would rather get DVDs than watch a popular series dubbed in English.

While I suspect the majority of Americans at least would rather view dubbed, I'd be very surprised if there weren't a substantial portion of the market that wishes it could get its anime digitally with original voice-acting intact with subtitles.

I know I'd personally prefer subtitle options for any movie not in English but the Anime fans in particular have been undeserved in this respect.

Original audio language with subtitles is, in my experience, the best option.

The subtleties of the spoken voice add meaning that a dub can't convey in most cases, and the subtitles often relay more information than the dubbed audio.

Passive benefits (not part of my initial commentary, but valid nonetheless): Also, if you're a slow reader, the more you expose yourself to subtitles with the original audio the more you'll learn about "foreign" languages and reading more quickly simultaneously! You'll be multilingual before long! Reading something while hearing it [e.g. English language films with English subtitles] activates more of your brain and increases retention (enhances memory) also, so you'll be less-likely to suffer from dementia in old age!

It really depends on the dub. If something is dubbed well, I'll generally turn on English audio AND English subtitles so I get twice as much humour when a joke comes along which couldn't be adapted while keeping lip sync.

No. you are incorrect. Anime fans are fairly evenly split over whether sub or dub is better. I can say for certain that action films are far better dubbed, as it distracts less from the action itself.

Also streeming services do have both available. Netflix has options for every video and most of the anime there has a variety of subs and all of the new stuff has the original language there. Crunchy roll has the same thing. So... yeah. this is a stupid idea.
