It's a great idea. BUT, but as soon as GOG partnered with Microsoft, the meager support for Android, a rival of microsoft, evaporated. Microsoft seems to have apparently strongarmed GOG into it, as they do with many other partners. Pray they don't alter the deal further. This deal's getting worse, all the time....

Very important storage issue: all games must be able to use the external SD card. All games must be able to use the EXTERNAL storage Android/data/obb and Android/data/gamefiles folders. It's best if apps download their data themselves, and we choose the download storage. This is crucial. By default, almost all apps/games put the obb files on the internal storage, and use the internal storage for data files in Android/data folders. Most games don't allow moving any files to the external SD card, but there are rare exceptions. With games like Icewind Dale, many users don't have internal storage space to get the game in the first place, and the Neverwinter Nights port has even bigger data files! And they all download only to the internal storage, no questions asked!

Create LOCAL save states!! These can be cross platform, at least archived and used on other devices. Tomb Raider 1 and 2 on Android, Icewind Dale and Ys Chronicles create local save states on the internal memory in Android/data/gamefolder. These files can be archived and used on another device to resume progress. Cloud saves are buggy and can malfunction. I recently installed again OTTTD: Over The Top Tower Defense by SMG Studio - a really well done game that I almost finished, just one stage left to finish and I spend quite some time upgrading my heroes to get that last stage, and suddenly I find out that I have no cloud saves! And I played this game on and off over the past two years, and the saves always worked fine across all devices and Android versions, and yet now this! In the past, devices created some kind of specific 'named' cloud saves, which meant that saves were NOT accessible from other devices! This mostly got fixed, from my experiences, but still... A local save file is a file you can put your hands on, you can archive it anytime and do with it as you please. No networking needed as well, though I do use and like cloud saves.

I do agree, that mobile games are for the most part very simplistic and what's worse - unfinished. I also waited a very long time for PC and console ports to arrive on Android, though in the meantime the situation did improve very much, and there are some good games for Android specifically. Nevertheless, I was very happy for SEGA to launch the Forever project, only to be disappointed soon by broken gamepad support and so I purchased the Genesis games on Steam and use the included roms on my Android devices with other emulators. And of course Dreams Into NIghts is not coming to Android any time soon, as it seems... They also gave up on gamepad support...

Actually, for those interested... As long as you have a USB-on-the-go cable (USBotg, about $0.49 for a cable) you can connect USB game controllers, mice, and keyboards to Android devices like tablets and phones. Additionally, if you take a game created in Unity 3D that uses keyboard/mouse input on PC and build it as an .apk for Android, the Android app automatically recognizes and works with keyboards/mice attached via USBotg. (Tested with Unity 3D 4.0, Google Nexus 7, and Samsung Galaxy S3.)

Tapping/swiping might not work as an input method for all games, but you're not limited to tapping/swiping -- you can have complex games with complex controls if you're willing to plug USB peripherals into your 'Droid. :)

I just forgot to add: Tablet touch ui means many games just won't work well even if theoretically they could be run. This takes fpp shooters and rts games off the list. But there are still games that play perfectly fine without mouse/keyboard imput. These are the ones I mean.

Surprisingly this has not come up earlier. Kinda similar in nature to the (in)famous Support Linux request in fact. I myself am a fresh owner of android tablet and find vast majority of the so called 'games' on the platform is disappointing at best. There is an android port of dosbox so I can try to figure out the games to run on my tablet. No real need to support that.

But there is a new trend out there. For most people tablet is merely another platform they own. So developers follow that releasing native android versions of their games - have seen quite a few such (mostly indie) games recently (eg. Waking Mars). It would be nice to be able to run a game on a tablet once I buy a PC version here (I mean without paying twice). I also don't really expect cross-device savestate or anything as that would require immense effort on part of the developer and probably include dubious 'cloud' practices I cannot accept.

Summary: Supply us with android ports if they exist.

Android versions of GoGs would be awesome. So many of the games developed for smartphones are simplistic and aimed at the lowest common denominator. If some of the old classics could be adapted to run on a phone without having to spend ages tweaking them, there would surely be a huge market! I know there are a few emulators, but most of them are bugged, and you have to spend ages getting them to work (and often they don't work well). Something properly configured would be great.

This would be a great idea. It would be great if the Android version included the PC one and viceversa, but I wouldn't mind buying a few select Android versions were that not to be the case.
