Add a controller icon for games that have gamepad support.

Added byyunix's avataryunix

For games that are compatible with gamepads such as the Xbox 360 controller for Windows right out of the box, add an icon to indicate this for help of finding games that can be played on media centers and other systems that have gamepads connected to them.

"ALL standard-PC-gamepads must be supported, not only that stupid X-Box-gamepad."

this still depends on the game, it would be a HUGE help to know which interface (xinput, directinput, legacy) a game supports without having to google or cross-check the steam store page.

more/detailed information is never a bad thing!

Please don't add a controller icon, if only one manufacturer is supported. ALL standard-PC-gamepads must be supported, not only that stupid X-Box-gamepad. The X-Box-gamepad is not the best but the WORST gamepad.

Yes please. I became used to play games that were designed for a console in mind with official Xbox controller. Sometimes I hesitate to buy a game simply because it isn't clear whenever it does support it natively or not.

I completely agree. Controller support drives a lot of my game purchase decisions. I work on a computer all day and its nice to take a break from the keyboard and let my thumbs do all the work on a controller at night. I also agree with the two icon solution to differentiate full controller support vs unofficial support (tweaking or 3rd party mod required).

This would be very difficult since most older games have outdated controller support (e.g. specific limits on the number of buttons or axes the game can see), so just because a game supports controllers doesn't mean it will provide the sort of plug-and-play experience expected from newer games.

This would be so helpful and relatively easy to implement - if the game works out of the box without modification with an XBOX 360 controller, or other usb controller, it would be super appreciated so that I don't have to go through forums and threads for each game to find out if it works with a controller. Especially with newer game where it works out of the box. there should really be an indication on the game pages.

@ VinsanityV22: Game Profilers are not too hard to learn to set up and it is very satisfying to customise your buttons to your own liking (plus you can add command line cheats as button presses! XD

Great idea. Could we have two controller icons - one for X-Input controller and another for Direct Input controllers?
We could start off adding icons using this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_XInput_enabled_games

This would be spectacular. I just used the 360 controller with Trine; it was specifically notated in the control set-up. I took a gamble and won with that... It would be great to not have to roll the dice; especially when I am running from a laptop through an HD TV. Appreciate it! Love the color idea Yunix.

I would suggest a green controller icon for native controller support and a yellow one for games that could be played with controllers with a little tweaking from the end user (Joy2Key, configuring some file, installing a 3rd party patch etc)

SERIOUSLY. How can this not be a standard feature by now. I hate to be *that guy*, as I'm sure you get this a lot GOG, but it's true - Valve/Steam does it. You guys should do it. It SUCKS whenever i buy a game and it doesn't natively support controllers. I'm not going to deal with a .... whaddya call 'em... "game profiler", or something. That's such a pain in the butt. I'm primarily a console gamer, I keep a wired 360 controller by my desk, and I expect to pop it in and play some games and that should be it. It's infuriating when I spend money and time downloading something like Soul Reaver - EXTRA inexplicable, considering the lead SKU for those games were Playstation consoles - and it doesn't support controllers. I know you guys don't make the game, so the fault (in that case) lies with Eidos and Crystal Dynamics. It's still something you should warn us about. I'm sitting here looking at Silver, currently on sale for $2.99 when I am writing this, and I can't buy it. I remember playing and loving it on Dreamcast, I want it - but something tells me it doesn't support controllers on PC. And the best I can do is google search (not helpful) or head to the community forums here (also not helpful). The question becomes, "Should I take a gamble here"? And that's not how this experience should shake out. Just mention it on the game page, please.
