Wolf
Both companies involved with the game seem to have ceased existing so GOG might have difficulties with this
Never got to play this, please bring it back.
I played this game so much when I was younger! It was a challenging game, but so much fun, and I learned a lot at the time too. Please bring this game to us, I'd buy it immediately!
I would love to play this game if it were made available. When I first discovered the existence of this game my sister begged me to find a copy. Set it up with everything working as it should and consider it an instabuy. :)
Wolf was such an amazing game back in the day. I remember playing this on my Windows 3.1 before I was even 10 years old, and couldn't believe how immersive and how unlike it was from any other game for its time. Not only was it enthralling to be a wolf, but it was scary- like, skin-shivering scary. There was no other feeling than having a hunter get on your trail while you were thirsty or fatigued, and further the feeling of actually escaping a hunter was an incomparable feet in itself.
Another thing I remember, however, is how difficult this game was. Maybe it was due to my neglectfulness as a youth, but most of my games would last less than 10 minutes. Watching my brother, however, he would rank up so much to be a part of a pack, which was something I'd always wanted to do but couldn't.
Bring this over to GOG! Buy Day One for sure!
This was a really imaginative and well-researched sim, not to mention challenging! I'd love to see this one on GOG.
This game was magnificent. It had such marvelous atmosphere, so quiet and kind of sad when your wolf was struggling. I loved it even though I was not a very successful wolf. Also, this is the first I've heard of the sequel! I'd love to play Lion and to play Wolf again.
I'd love this game to come to GOG along with its sequel, Lion. Wolf and Lion are unique simulation games where you take on the role of an animal (in this case, a wolf), and try to survive by eating, drinking, avoiding danger (humans, traps) and mating (yes, you can have cubs!). The animations are superb and the environmental sounds and music are amazing. The only complaints I have is that mating is incredibly hard to accomplish, and there are no other predators besides your pack and competing wolf packs (if you choose to add any). There's no bears, cougars, foxes, etc. No other animal simulation games have come close to the realism/fun of Sanctuary Woods' series. Yes, there have been a few others to ride on the success of Wolf and Lion, but they have all failed miserably. Savage from Discovery Channel had you avoiding landmines (!!!). Fading Footsteps from another company is just downright awful, with buttons that are unexplained in the manual and the wolves using football plays (!!!) to attack prey, but none of these plays actually -do- anything. The graphics are in 3D but are really horrid. Unfortunately they don't really run well on modern systems (I can play Wolf in DOS BOX but the sound is messed up) so please, GOG, bring this wonderful game over! Lion is newer and has better graphics, but I love wolves more than lions and have a big soft spot for this game. Any animal lover should try this game! It's too bad Wolf and Lion are games that nobody has ever heard of. I remember buying this along with Sam and Max at CompuCentre ages ago and had a blast with both.
Lion is good too!
One of the most original games of all time. It deserves a spot on GOG.
