$5.99 for Wizardry 8 is a bit low, I'd say. I'd prefer to see 1 - 8 go for around (and at least) $20 as a "complete" set (including all the bonus content on Wizardry Gold if someone wants to install all that madness onto their hard drive).

Wizardry 8 is essentially IMPOSSIBLE to find these days. This is the perfect game for GOG to carry. I'd buy it immediately.

I wonder if GOG could persuade the Japanese company to release Wizardry 1-8 to them or at least license the games to GOG. There's clearly a market (albeit small) for the game, and the Japanese company could make a profit from it. Something has to be done. This series is just too good to be allowed to fade away.

This is the best 1st person view series out there (especially 6-8) I hope Sir Techs license somehow makes onto GOG until then I play it as abandonware. Could use some loving though.

I know this would be a poor substitute, but until GOG gets the game this may have to do. YouTube has a channel that casts Wizardry 8 games. Just look for YourGibs. He's up to his 117th video so far. I really wish GOG would get this game. Watching the casts is fun, but it's just not the same as playing it.

I had Wizardry Gold and Wizardry 8, and they were fantastic games in this particular style of rpg. It was one of the first series I looked I looked for when I discovered this site.

8 was such a good game and i never got the chance to play the other games in the series it would be great for it to get on GOG just a shame there appears to be little want for it on the site

Also the Japanese Wizardry online has no more to do with the Wizardry PC games franchise than "Dragon Warrior" has to do with "Dungeons and Dragons". Completely different games altogether in every sense. The Japanese versions are quite bad (including that silly console version from several years ago).

Though I have all the games on CD I can only really be bothered with Wizardry 7/Gold and 8. Wiz 7 still cannot run properly in Windows XP or later OSes due to an issue with text speed going to fast (and no, you can't hex edit around this) but Wiz 8 works great still. I would gladly pay for GOG versions of these though, especially if they could figure out a way to get Wiz 7 and/or Gold working in modern windows OSes.

I love these games; particularly Wiz 7 and 8. I still have Wiz 8 and the guidebook but have not been successful getting it to run despite multiple tweaks. Not sure about the status of the license. Clearly not abandonware given the development of the MMO which I found horrible (Beta)

I REALLY hope that this gets picked up by GOG. I grew up playing 6 & 7 and then finally 8 (which is WAY different, but still really good).

7 and 8 are two of my favorite party-development RPGs of all time. 8 really is a gem in a lot of ways, and could use a kickstarter reboot of some sort.

Does anyone know anything about the current state of the license? The series has been continued by a Japanese company after Wizardry 8 was released, but the last thing I heard was that there was some legal fuzz surrounding the ownership of the IP.

Games with less than 141 votes were accepted here @Azemondus. I have original Wizardry 8 witch came with Wizardry 7 gold. Never tried Wiz7 sadly but I enjoyed 8 a bit, the character creation is just amazing and I could actually easily spend 30 minutes or more just creating starting party lol

I just installed Wizardry 8 from disc tonight. In a search to find info on patches and older Wizardry games i found that there is just nothing out there unless you want to pay big money on Amazon. Though at the same time i found that the Japanese are developing a new version :)

I still have Wizardry V on a boot-up 3.5" floppy. Also still have the original 5.25" Apple disc set which took 30 min to load on an Apple IIE. Oh... and the whole book of graph paper with hand drawn maps and original spell book. Never giving any of that up! But I will purchase a pack if made available.

If Gog goes for the Wizardry series they could simply release The Ultimate Wizardry Archives which has 1-7 and Gold included and then release 8 stand alone. Not to mention the Ultimate Archives already did away with the drm so they're already drm-free.
