Hey cmon seriously. You can get the BNE with everything for WC2 for about 20 cents on amazon in a huge amount. The most expensive then will be the shipping. I bought the BNE about 3 years ago for 2€ on Amazon. Why should we have this game on gog.com which will never happen, because Blizzard isnt dumb. WHy? They already do a rework at their own for this game, why give the license to gog so they can do the same work blizzard is already doing for WC1 and 2? And not just that, the BNE runs on modern systems with minor problems (colour problems on cinematics) and this version you can get for 2€( 3$) on amazon. There is absolutely no reason to have it here, no reason to work on the game to have it run on modern systems by the gog team, not in the slightest. If you are unable to get this game, i dont know why you should play games anyway. To the guy Dreadmeat; why cant you get the game in Europe? Seriously, visit a store under the domain of your country (e.g. amazon.de), buy it for 2$, have it delivered to you as physical copy, install it, play it. Done.
This will never happen, Blizzard will never give up the rights.
How can we petition this shit to happen?!?!?! I love this game, God, I hope they can make it happen.
For those of you who had these games and still have the legitimate CD-key, you can go to the Blizzard website, log in to your bnet account and enter the CD-key and Blizzard will detect what product has that key and a digital installer of the most recent patched version will be added to your bnet account for download at no extra cost. This is great for people who like digital distribution or have lost their discs. I don't know if the older games would work on the new operating systems though. Also, if you have a CD-key for Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness, it will automatically be upgraded to Warcraft 2: Battle.net Edition.
server.war2.ru war2.warcraft.org download and play warcraft 2 combat edition!
The battle.net edition is what you will want, and it can be purchased around the net. I am running the game on Windows 8 just fine in 256 color compatibility mode, and as for playing games over IPX, there is a program you can get called IPXwrapper. You just place the files in the game directory of all the parties playing and it works! It can be found here: http://www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper/
+1 on this too. Best real time strategy game ever
Adding my vote here. Maybe its impossible to get it but I would love to get a chance to play this one again. I also sit in the boat of living in Europe so I cant get a hold of the game here.. legal anyways. So please GOG! Talk to EA or whoever owns the rights and if you can get it.. get it!
Otherwise you could always just tell us here that its not happening.
Thanks for an awesome service otherwise!
How is this not Priority #1????
I can't get my DOSBOX working; it would be nice just to plop down $9.99 for it.
I would buy this game in a heart beat too. I dont care to spend a lot of time looking for another over priced box somewhere that may or may not work. GoG must know that WC2 tides of darkness and beyond the portal expansion would be a huge seller on here. Most fellow Gamers I know would as well.
Yes, please! The memories. I don't want dosbox and we need a company to sell old games we can play with new computers!
Uh..you do know you still can buy box of it? I don't see the reason why should gog.com re-release it while it still sales in some stores. Rarely but i saw it here and there for 5$ price.
honestly this game works fine with dosbox on w7 why do u need gog
to do something u can do for yourselves?
This would be awesome for obvious reasons...
Battle.Net edition is what we should be looking at here. There's a version circulating somewhere on the net that works with all modern rigs, so I'm sure the GoG fellows could fix it up as well. If they could add some sort of modern multilayer functionality (Modern LAN protocols :P), that would be definitely amazing:
However, the question, as so many others have stated, is Blizzard. However, Warcraft II is almost abandonware to them in terms of sales. A cut from a properly GoG version seems like a profitable option, even if it's no WoW subscription fee extravaganza.
While unlikely, I see this possibly actually seeing the light of day one day. If we're lucky. :)
Definately yes! It is about time! :D Can't find a legal copy anywhere :<
I think rather vote for the Battle.net edition - Expansion, DirectX, Battle.net and TCP/IP LAN play added.
Well in Europe (Germany) I can't buy Warcraft 2 and Addon (yes WC2 has an addon) in Blizzard Shop. So there is a chance that this game can be bought here.
i lost my old CDs i had both the game + expansion, sadly i lost it. True thing about the soul thing...
Not much of a fan of 1 or 3, but Warcraft 2 is still awesome. My laptop requires this game.
Will never happen, unless Blizzard get's 200% profit plus your soul.
I *just* got this game working in Boxer.app, and thusly it'd be *just* my luck.
It'll probably never happen, but I would buy it the day it was released here.
...and W1. But with everything else from Blizzard, its probably not going to appear here. There have been rumors that you could register a game on blizzards page and download the games, but then again, the older games does not have it... One can only hope...
Oh my jesus do I want this.
