ScummVM 1.7.0 has been released, and it supports the Neverhood!

I was given a pirate version by a friend years ago. It never worked properly but I would definitely buy a legitimate version so I could play it all the way through. The graphics alone are worth a play through.

This game needs to be on here, it's a representation of an art form that we don't see in games any more, and would be a fantastic addition to the gog library

If anyone is interested, Neverhood is now playable in ScummVM! Actually for quite some time already but I just found it out :) It's good especially since latest Linux kernels (3.14+) made Neverhood unplayable in Wine. But it runs in ScummVM daily build. At least I started the game without issues (but didn't finish it yet).

I'm hoping in the next few months it will show up courtesy of DreamWorks Interactive/EA (since we do have another DreamWorks title here, "Clive Barker's Undying").

Definitely needs to be on GOG, this game is under-appreciated and more people need to find out about it and have access to it. I would gladly pay upwards of $30 for even a digital copy.

EA should release this game, cause this game it's the most impressive game I ever played. It's good that SCUMMVM made this game to run, without any crashes or bugs. I want this game for GOG!

It's a shame that this game is not on GOG yet. Well, I think it will be on GOG very soon - maybe they are waiting for stable release of ScummVM with Neverhood support (now it is supported only in daily builds).

As MaddTheSane and bluegr said, SCUMMVM is becoming compatible with The Neverhood. I /suspect/ GOG is behind this; they can bring the game here through EA.

The Neverhood is now supported by ScummVM! :) So you don't any patches to get it working. You just copy the original game files in a folder, point ScummVM to that folder and voila, it works!

It's a crime I can't play this on modern PC's because I would drop so much money just to play this again. Playing it now requires so many colour fixes and patches it's really a hassle. A DRM free copy with extras would so make my Christmas. Plus with Armikrog coming around the corner it would make a great bundle!

I think we could see this released if GOG could ensure it would run on modern machines. We have Clive Barker's Undying here from DreamWorks Interactive and EA, so EA shouldn't be a roadblock to success. The problem I suspect with The Neverhood is that it won't expand to fit modern screens, so people will be stuck playing at 640x480 or 800x600, and that will frustrate many. I think GOG might be okay if they use the disclaimer that it won't run to fill the entire screen.

Of course I could be wrong.

From FAQ on their Kickstarter campaign:
"A sequel would be a blast, but unfortunately, we don’t own the rights to The Neverhood. When we made the original game for Dreamworks Interactive, we had to assign the rights over to them to in order to get the funding for the project. Now, E.A. owns those rights. We've tried over the years to get the rights back from E.A., and while they've always been appreciative of our interest, they've chosen not to do anything with it for now."
So... it's E.A. that GOG has to deal with to get the game here on the site. I truly hope that'll happen, but I'm doubtful.

"should go buy a pre-order on Kickstarter because the money will help the game become better since it's in-development"

In this case your pre-orders help the game exist at ALL, and existence is certainly better than non-existence for a new Neverhood-ish game :D

Oh, yes, Armikrog certainly going to fund now (it's the spiritual-successor to The Neverhood, being Kickstarted by the original Neverhood team). Neverhood fans should go buy a pre-order on Kickstarter because the money will help the game become better since it's in-development, as opposed to triple-A pre-orders, where your money is going to the publisher but not toward the budget of the game.

Incredible to me that EA doesn't want to let an outside group prepare The Neverhood for sale, for a small slice of the backend. The desire is there, little to no logistics are required on the EA side, and the fans would be less upset with them... why in hell are they so short-sighted on low-risk ventures? They should just sell off the IP, it would make them look a little less worthless.

Wow WOW Armikrog is turning out to be a big finish over at kickstarter! $900k is a big goal, but we are about 84% there and got over $50k new pledges yesterday, now over $50k new pledges today with still half the day to come!

Come drop by the project comments if you're backing, it's lots of fun with building excitement and neat fan art
