bravoman Despite the bad reviews on steam, I did like the overall gameplay of StarDrive. It does have 1 particular game breaking issue and it's really around the memory optimization as the AI tends to spam ships like no tomorrow, eating up every available RAM until either your rig grinds to a halt or it crashes out.
Thankfully it's somewhat patched to have a hard ship limit in the game but the fact the AI spams like no tomorrow is an annoying behavior. Still hasn't stopped me from beating them, thankfully :p
And yes, I do echo the sentiment I wish it comes to GoG at some point.

The best space strategy game to me stands as Distant Worlds with all the expansions.
lonewolfgk Yeah i bought the Desura version and it was 1.07b and current was already v1.12. I was not happy and told Desura i want a refund if they cannot provide update, they refunded me, i refuse to buy from steam crap.
Anyway some info on the game, it is the best 4x game we had in a very long time. Imperium Galactica and Master Of Orion 1 and 2 was the best in the 90s and Stardrive is the first game since then that did it the best so far. It is almost exactly like MOO 1 and 2 in the sense of Research, the colonizing, planets and opponents. What set Stardrive apart from MOO is that Stardrive is realtime where MOO was turn based, the graphics of course way better today, the ship design is excellent where you have the hull (outside of ship) and lots of empty blocks inside the hull where you choose what to place and where to place, its excellent. The combat also real time in the same screen where you manage your empire, you just zoom in and out depending how close you want to be. The combat is done very nicely. Colony management also very nice where you decide what to build and where to place it in your colony view which consists of around 30+ blocks, more than enough to place everything you research for colony. The tech tree is a bit small on what you research but it is still nicely done. When you add Tims Mod (current version 2.5) that adds a lot more on the tech tree. This game has amazing potential to grow and grow and with users being able to mod (lots of nice mods already), this game is just awesome if you like 4x games. I would really like if GOG got it so that i can buy it because currently i am playing a pirate version since i refuse to buy steam version. If Desura updated then i would not have asked for refund. I will defnitely support the developer and buy the game if i can get it any other way than steam and of course get the updates and future updates as well. Well if i carry on i will be writing a book but this game is definitely awesome for a 4x game and its been ages since we had a game that really does deliver. GOG must definitely try and speak to Zero and get this game on GOG and i will buy it for sure then. CYA all and have fun.
