ustnaknas Steam and Gog package of the game is incomplete no soundtrack it feels empty to me.

I would love to see Quake on GOG.com! I live in Germany and sadly Quake is (by the time I'm writing this) still unavailable here. Doom's ban was lifted in 2011 which is absurd when you think about it and we still have to wait if Quake's ban will lift or not.
The sad part is that even through Doom is now "legally" acquirable there is no available digital copy for PC accept for the Doom 3 BFG Edition.
I could post this under every requested id software title but I feel that Quake is the one I should have experienced as a gamer and I would most love to own.
To show you desperation: Even the (apparently) shitty steam version would be fine for me - at least for now.
It's not like there is no digital for German costumers copy of this game at all. The id store offers Quake but I don't know what I will get. Will I be able to redownload the game any time after my purchase and will it be restricted by DRM? DRM does not concern me all that much in game unless it's an old title where I'm pretty sure that I'll have to modify the game to run proper.
In conclusion I don't have great past memories of this game or other id titles and I would love the change this. So please GOG get this or even more id titles in your store! Help me to experience this blank part of gaming history.

graspee I don't know why everyone is having problems with the steam version. There's plenty of source ports you can use and no DRM. Yes, it lacks the music, which is bad, but gog has released at least one game in the past missing its cd soundtrack.

Vordenko This better make it into GoG, I would get it on steam, but I don't want to, Quake 2 and 1 on there lack the music, which is dumb really, if GoG's versions at least adds the soundtrack as an extra (considering the fact the original game had to be played with the CD), Im so buying it here.

011284mm The game of our youth. GOG and Bethesda really need to work together. I love how the gaming industry is always saying that we are unwilling to legally support them when GOG is proving that we pay for games we feel we have the rights to play where and when we like. As for Quake, the sound track by NineInchNails was a feast for the ears and really must be included with the game for the full enjoyment.

tbirdo If Bethesda/id isn't going to release decent Steam ports., they should really license it to gog to give these old games a proper PC rerelease. Other users have pointed out the problems. I'm surprised this game doesn't have a higher vote count.

bre I never had much interest in quake or any of the other classic shooters, but after reading some of the ancient history about them i wanted to check out the revolutionary fluidity etc. I once bought an id software pack on steam, which included quake. anyway, after playing for some 15 min and seeing how good it plays, i wondered why it was so quiet. though enjoyable, it seems the steam version is another quick and easy dump, without the original music or any loving polish. I will definitely re-buy this game for 10$ if it would show up here. If i had a twitter i would ask john carmack himself about the sub-par steam version, or even better, about a GOG version.
czwarty I would love this! Just make sure it includes the entire sountrack IN-GAME, as the Steam version is seriously lacking in that regard.
cynicalmatt I reinstalled and started playing this only two days ago, but this time with Quake Epsilon. Completely forgot how much fun this game was, and the mods breathe all new life into it. I don't have the expansions though, so if it hits GOG with those, it's an insta-buy. Please, GOG, we WANT you to take our money!

Strijkbout Much better than Quake 2 for some reason. If GOG gets it I hope it will be sold with the mission packs (Abyss of Pandemonium, Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity with the soundtracks).
