operation: inner space
I once tried to make my own version of this game with the demo version of game maker pro after finding out that Software Dynamics wasn't going to make a version that would run on the newer systems. I got the space flight mechanics working, had a ship, and some asteroids floating around in it, but I couldn't figure out how to get the inventory part working right, and the mini map kept moving out of position. Soon after that my hard drive died, all my work was lost, and I gave it up. I would love to get a working version from GOG.
I play this on dosbox though an old copy of win 3.1 or so. Works but just for a few levels then it becomes sluggish, emulate a game on windows 3.1 on an emulated dos lol no wonder but oh well. Works on windows 7 pro vm? I think I read that somewhere but alas I got win 7 home.
It is a pity that they do not develop it further for newer OS's.
I remember playing this game when i got tired of playing Diablo1 for hours, totally want this on GoG
I read the FAQ about the price, and well, I don't believe the reply for a moment. I also sent a request to work with GOG and I'm willing to bet there's going to be a stock reply!
Hell, I'd be fine with paying SDI's pricing if GOG could just find a way to make this run on 64-bit systems.
Software Dynamics' pricing is NUTS. $25 for the game in this day and age? I guess they're oblivious to current trends.
YES.
YES.
A MILLION TIMES YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.
GOG, PLEASE HEAR OUR PRAYERS. QOQ
I know SDI still sells this, but it refuses to run on modren computers without a ton of tweaking. I'd LOVE ot see GOG get it and make it work. Used to have this game a LONG time ago and absolutely loved it!
Definitely! I bought this from SDI about 4-5 years ago after owning the Shareware version about 15 years ago!
Unfortunately it has a few glitches (but still highly playable), although I'm sure if SDI co-operated with GOG they could make this a beauty again.
I've got the floppy to this game (and some backups of the raw floppies), although I thought it was rather expensive when I got it. I'd love to see it appear in GoG, and better yet to see it expanded and thriving. In truth the full game gives very little in addition to what the Demo/free version gives, so you're better off just getting the demo and playing the hell out of it. RingRunner feels a lot like inner space, although being much newer graphically and having quite a few different missions (beyond collect icons or race for icons, etc), you could make do with for quite a while.
I finally got a response from SDI and they claim they're making more from the rare $30 sale than they expect to make if they went with gog. I rather doubt this, as you see plenty of people around here trying old games for the first time, but oh well. Please take the time to email them your request that they put it on gog at [innerspaceorder at sdispace.com]
SDI still does this, but they have it for about US$30. Minimum. Would love if GOG could get it at a reasonable price.
This was an amazingly addictive game. Top down space shooter with tons of weapons and ship upgrades you could buy, different factions you could befriend or piss off, cops that would come and try to arrest you if you committed a crime... they would literally put on a siren, attach a tractor beam and try to drag you away! But I usually made sure my engines were strong enough to drag *them* around instead.
My floppy went bad quite a few years ago, would really love to have a gog.com copy. But it's not just nostalgia; this really is another one of those games that would be just as fun and addictive for first time players.
I have some very fond memories of this game; I'd love to get it again! It's a pity that the owners seem to be selling it at so high a price at the moment. :/
This was one of my all-time favorites growing up! I found a copy of this, but it won't run uner 64 bit Windows. I would love it if you guys could get this. PlLEASE!
It would be really great if this game was on GOG.com. It really is an old classic; it was really fun to play. And I would buy it.
