Apparently whoever had the rights to this franchise (Microsoft?) have given up those rights. Mechwarrior IV Mercenaries is available for free now. That being said I would gladly pay for a working copy of Mechwarrior 3 that would run on Windows XP or later operating systems.

I loved playing this game. WOuld load up on missile launchers and lazors but never good enough battery. All them forced mech shutdowns due to overheating xD

This one would be great, I keep a Win 98 system around for this game alone. Its the best one for technical options I feel, and was the best graphical gqame in the series I feel. I would even pre-order this game if it became available.

We do not need mechwarrior 4 however as it is still the only sequel I have seen that seemed to use worse graphics as well as game play than its predecessor. haha!

One of the best PC games EVER? It's a no-brainer. Look at the MW3 stuff on YouTube and it's easy to tell this would be a winner for GOG--and the PC gaming community.

I believe PGI owns the license for the Mechwarrior games. With all the grab deals for MWO I think they would appreciate the money they would gain from allowing Mechwarrior 3 (with Pirate's Moon) to be sold over GOG since everyone and their dog would buy this game. Arguably the best video game in the Battletech franchise, except for maybe the original Mechcommander, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Especially after I lost my old retail copy however many years ago. I'm jonesing bad and MW4 Mercenaries and MWO, however free they may be, just aren't doing it for me.

I remember buying this game for about £5 many many years ago and playing it literally until my computer packed in! Still have the disk, but have not had much luck getting it running on Win7 - please GOG, get this game!!!

It's very easy to get MW2 or 4 working on Win Vista/7, but not this one! It has the BEST intro FMV in a game, EVER. Please work your magic and port this game to Win7.

One of the best games I have ever played! I have already bought the CD from eBay, but my computer has problems to runs it. :'( I heard that the game has problems with newer Ati cards. It would be sooo nice to make this game running on newer computers!

I tried playing it on winxp and it kept crashing, but strangely pirates moon worked fine. It would be nice if GOG.com could get their hands on distribution rights and fix the game breaking issues.

one of the best mech sims ever made, visually and in detail. to this day the graphics are not that bad. There's mechwarrior online now and its pretty visually stunning though is only in beta form. I remember playing mw3 online for msn games over dial-up, which was my first real online competitive game play. mw3 had destructible terrain, fully submersible underwater combat, complete mech modding, and lets not forget that it had actual people running on the ground to give the mechs scale(and you could step on them). I know FAFSA/activision dont really see eye to eye with this IP (SIC: www.ign.com/articles/2009/09/03/mechwarrior-5-trouble-brewing) but getting this back out in the market would probably convince them that it is a IP that a lot of us still want to see in the gaming industry. Letting it die would be a sin to the whole sci-fi community's imagination and the new generations exposure to what sci-fi can mean.

This was the last game of the MechWarrior series I played. I tried Part 4 also, but was disappointed, because the "Mech Feel" had been lost. Too bad I did not manage to run this game on WinXP. In my opinion the culmination of the Mech Sim genre, it would be great if I were able to play it again.

I still have the CD of this game lying around, but can't use it due to the bouncing vehicle bug, jump jets not working, and mission objectives simply not being there. I would buy it the second it came out.

Would love to see GOG version of this awesome game. I played this only recently on a win 7 64bit machine with a radeon HD5870. Granted it took hours to get everything right. There were a few fanpatches which were a bit hard to track down. And still i encountered the bouncing APCs on Op 1 Mission 2. I turned of fraps recording for that fight an limited the framerate to recording (30) and they were bouncing no more. Did not encounter any more physics problems for the rest of the game. Also found out that game actually supports resolutions higher than what is available thru menus but this requires registry tweaking and will crash your game if you go to menu during a mission. It would be great if the GOG team worked on MW3. It's much better than MW4 in my opinion, due to just the sheer amount of customization you can do with the mechs without hardpoint systems. I would play it more than MW4 but it has so many problems with modern machines that even if you take a couple of hours to set everything up it isn't guaranteed to run in a non-gamebreaking manner. It might not get very many votes compared to other more popular great games like System Shock, but it's a niche market for Mech sims (Read: practically nonexistant) and would make a lot of people happy if it were remastered.
