"An enchanting Adventure/RPG set in a magical realm. Master spells, battle foes, and quest forth in this full-length game." http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2112639455/mages-initiation-a-classic-sierra-style-adventure
I'm a Kickstarter backer, and would love to see it here too! You guys will enjoy it as well!
I'm pretty sure Quest for Infamy (as well as Heroine's Quest) has more votes than Mage's Initiation simply because of the similarity in name to Quest for Glory (and Hero's Quest, respectively). I frankly never expected asking for votes here in KS updates becoming as important as asking for GL upvotes...
Wow, what reason does GOG have for not accepting this game? It's drm-free, and it's from an indie developer. It would fit right in with the other drm-free adventure games. Come on GOG. Let's have this game on site!
As many of you probably know, it has been confirmed that Mage's Initiation will be available on Steam. Still, I would much prefer to purchase the game on GOG, which often has great deals. I am very hopeful that GOG will listen to their longtime customers here.
Is there really a resistance towards them? Quest for Infamy, another Quest for Glory inspired Adventure/RPG like Mage's Initiation, received a lot of votes on the wishlist and is already confirmed for a GOG release. The difference in votes the two games have received here surprises me. Perhaps people believe a GOG release is a done thing for Mage's Initiation, but from the responses I've received from Himalaya/AGDi in the past, that seems to be far from accurate.
I agree with the previous comments, and I am curious as to why there is resistance toward a new Sierra-esque game. The Quest for Glory series is available, so there is a market for Mage's Initiation, and The Witcher games are very recent rather than older games. Is there a process that must be attended to for games to make it onto GOG? If so, I'm curious as to what it is, because I'd love to see more of the games I love on GOG, not just this one.
I have purchased many games on GOG over the years, and I am shocked and disappointed to find there are no Himalaya Studios titles available for purchase here. Are you kidding me??? Himalaya (aka AGDI for their non-commercial games) is a very popular developer and has been making adventure games for longer than most adventure game indie developers around today. They've built a reputation for creating exceptionally high quality, classic-style adventure games, and their Mage's Initiation looks like it will be their best yet. Seeing as how Mage's would directly appeal to classic adventure game fans, I figured the game would be available on here for pre-sale, but I was disgusted to see that it's still only a wish list. GOG, please listen to your customers and give us a great deal on Mage's Initiation. This game epitomizes one of the kinds of games that should be available on GOG and I want to buy it and get a good deal here!!! THANK YOU AND I HOPE TO SEE THIS GAME FOR SALE HERE SOON
I backed this on Kickstarter, so I'm not really a potential customer (sorry), but I do feel this game would be a good fit for GOG with their focus on classic gaming and their legacy of revitalizing a number of dying genres.
