I had no idea until today that the Windows port existed. There was also a DOS port years earlier, but it is pretty much reviled by the few people who know about it, and it actually looked worse than the NES version. But I've now seen pics of the Windows version that's part of the Konami Collector's Series; the graphics in this version are vibrant and a step above the NES version.

If any released this for digital download, I'd buy it. Wish Konami could just do a megaport of Castlevania....

But, if GoG could do this, I'd still be happy and instantly buy.

I read the manual to the game, and it said the cd wasn't required to play the game, but attempting to play the game without a cd brings up a window that says that the cd is missing.

Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra included the NES versions of Contra, Super C and all three of the Castlevania series that were released on the NES.

According to Wikipedia the NES version of Jackal was also on the disc, although it could only be played after you did a bit of tinkering. ;)

I bought this CD way back, unfortunatly I've lost track of it. T_T

This would be an instant purchase if GOG stocked it! :D

NES Contra is still my favorite version of it. ^_^
