Actually Square Enix is the new publisher; I think the problem is convincing them to bother bringing the game here.
This would be awesome, but microsoft. So, yeah...
DS was just nice hack and slash but Ultima V and VI remakes make Dungeon Siege worth more than every penny spend on that game.Even though I own CD version, i'd buy another one here at GoG.
I'm more interested in the mods that use Dungeon Siege than the game itself. Quite a few I'd like to play if the game were available here.
Great game, spent many anhour over this, as did the missus who finished it before me lol. Was a prequel in a way to the way you level up on skyrim. The more you did it the better you were if i remember. PLease get it sorted GOG!
It's weird, but I never got into the game as deeply as I thought I would. It was well-made and I enjoyed it, but after a while my interest just kinda fizzled out. I guess the story wasn't that gripping, and it started to feel like a grind. After battling through yet another horde of those croaking fish swarming out of a lake, I didn't feel like playing anymore.
I don't know if this would help get the Dungeon Siege games on GOG, but the game's developers, Gas Powered Games, was recently bought up by Wargaming. So if Gas Powered Games said "No" in the past, maybe Wargaming will say"Yes" now. Here's a link to the press release about the purchase: http://worldoftanks.com/en/news/20/wargaming-acquires-gas-powered-games/
I don´t still understand why Square Enix decide to take out multiplayer in Steam versions - becuase I finish original Dungeon Siege on Windows 7 (64bit!) over LAN without no problem. For me, it is mystery why they decide to make extra effort to ditch out whole multiplayer and not just remove one option - play over MSN servers and keep everything others. Lucky there is still versions on internet, which have everything.
I loved this game and found it did have re-play value. It was and is viewed by many as being a pure hack 'n slash game - you don't have the character interaction that exists in other party games. However, at the time of it's release this did push boundaries in relation to it's graphics. In terms of bang for buck this game gives hours of game play and I found it an involving, enjoyable game. I'd buy it if it was available.
Make for OSX!!! PLS GOD! PLS!!!
This vote in particular means a def. purchase
Steam removed the multiplier functions and a lot of people that bought this on steam are mad- if you had a version that people could play local and private online games there'd be a lot of sales to rake in I believe.
Dungeon Siege + legend of Aranna together pls. And add on online multiplayer pls.
Please, PLEASE for the love of.... something, bring this out.
Would love to see this, DS1 + LoA, and DS2 + BS.. Just shut up and take my money.
I have dungeon siege on steam, but that one is without Legends of Aranna. I do hope it gets on GoG and then with the expansion included.
That said, if anybody wants to VPN DS: LoA (or DS) with me, my Hamachi network is 'Stephen Chow'. Just join any time you like.
@Bruce: Dungeon Siege I and II were made long before Square Enix acquired the rights to them. Multiplayer won't be revived anytime soon without a third-party hacker (basically only way) to create their own servers for the game. You're better off just using Hamachi to link up with other people via VPN.
@DebateMe: DS: LoA runs perfectly fine on fullscreen 1080p w/Windows 7 x64. Just add this after the shortcut parameter: "width=1920 height=1080 bpp=32"
I have the core game but ide gladly pay say... 10$ for this with the expansion and for bonus they could add the 2 bonus packs [Yesterhaven & Return To Arhok]
*Yesterhaven*http://www.gaspowered.com/ds1/content.php?loc=downloads*Return To Arhok*http://www.microsoft.com/games/dungeonsiegeloa/xpextra.aspx
I have this installed and play it in 1920x1080p. I'd probably buy it again on GOG to get it without DRM.
Would grab this, the expansion, and the sequel in a second if they were available here.
If there were a GoG version of the original Dungeon Siege (along with it's expansion pack, Legends of Aranna) it would allow casual gamers like me to play mods that run using the original Dungeon Siege (DS) engine.
Two great mods for that game are U5 Lazarus (http://www.u5lazarus.com/) and U6 Project (http://u6project.com/).I'm effectively locked out from playing those two mods because I just can't get DS to play nice with my Win7 64-bit machine.
We need this game!
I was so hooked on this game back in 7th grade... I would love to play it again, especially the multi-player since I missed out on most of it due to bad internet. I had thought about getting it on steam but after reading that its a butchered version I'm glad I didn't spring for it.
If this game bored you, then why are you posting comments in the wish section? gtfo!
This was the first non-Final Fantasy RPG I ever played, and I think Good Old Games is hardly complete without it.
Use some weight system like it is in Lionheart
And also I would say it would good (if you are going to release it) to integrate this game with Revitised fan mod, which enable to save progress in quests and maybe if you would be able (if it would be possible) to change system of inventory-because it tend to be quickly full
I have never been a fan of vanilla Dunegon SIege, it always seems to be too much a generic hack and slash, but that is just my opinion. Now the modding on the other hand, anyone who already owns Dunegon SIege should seriously check out the excellent remakes of both Ultima V and VI, I recommend starting with Ultima V Lazarus which remains my favorite of the two. Seriously these total conversions are better then the actual game and are well worth purchasing the game for just them alone.
I know it is quite amount of data (above 1 GB) but without that the game isn´t just complete - and beside there is one extra multiplayer campaign, which you can also play solo and this is maybe why is complete game (singleplayer+multiplayer part) so big (but not horrible as for example Sacred 2 which has just over 20+ GB in base)
And please when you will add this game, don´t forget include multiplayer. WIthout it it is not full complete game, please just if t necessary force Square Enix to provide you complete, non-cut version (not as it is now in Steam).
Yep, it bored me too, but it's your choice...
I'm wondering if anyone else commenting every actually PLAYED this game. It's the only game I've ever owned where I had no desire to replay it. The AI plays the game for you, all you do is occasionally click to tell them what area to go to.
I would love to have this game again, especially with online multiplayer.
I too would love this in order to play the Ultima remakes.
I'd love to buy this--and its expansion, Legends of Aranna--from GOG, and not only because Steam doesn't sell it unless you also buy Dungeon Siege III, AND they don't sell Legends of Aranna at all by any means whatsoever.
Furthermore, I bet that GOG selling it and hosting a Dungeon Siege Forum would bolster a great M-P "community" with lots of games going and lost of players too hehehe
It can be made to run on Win 7 (done it once) but can't recall how I did it. I do remember it rquired updateing some of the files as lets face it the game is getting on a bit :)
Wow if you guys can make this work for Win7 I will pay triple whatever the cost. Do it please!
One of the last truly great adventure based RPG's. It proves beyond doubt that with the right focus on fun game-play and interesting world design, a simple story can make a bloody fine game.
Need this to run the Ultima V and Ultima VI remakes by fans.
