Well, supposedly there's to be a revival, about which nearly nothing is yet known: www.thechaosenginegame.com/ (Re-release/port? Remake? Reboot?) Nonetheless, that site invites people to pre-order on GetGamesGo... which promises Steam DRM.

I bought the floppy version at the time it came out and I would really like to see or rather hear the CD version

I do not understand the Bitmap Brothers folk. In view of the lively PC and Amiga emulation / retro gaming scene these guys could still(!) make afortune by putting their games on a CD/DVD as Amiga ADV files and DOS /Win installables... So, dear Eric and the rest of the Bitmap Brothers, you twerps are missing a brillian business opportunity :-)

Oh my! Are you joking? Only ~90 votes? This is one of the best platformers I have ever played! Bitmap Brothers games are seriously undervoted here (dtto Gods). And yes, I posted the same comment over at Gods. Sue me. :)
