Regarding the comments about the game being abandonware, I have the understanding it is not, the download links for this game from abandoware sites are illegal. The mere aging of a game is not going to make it abandonware, a game is of public domain once the license, patent, etc. expires or if the owner willingly gives it to the public. The publishing rights of this game are either of Activision or Square-Enix now.

Only my all time favorite game! I just finished buying it on disc for the pc and I can't seem to get it running on windows 7. Yeah yeah I did everything I had to do, downloading all those patches but it still isnt working properly. If GoG released this I would buy it yet AGAIN! Love this game do it GoG!!

I hope gog can get it working having to start from the second game in the series is not hard with legacy of kain becuase theres a big time jump but i would still like to play blood omen BEFORE soul reaver fighting the old protaganist has no weight if i never played as him

From the time I've started using GoG.com a few years ago I've been hoping they would bring out Blood Omen 1 some time. Since they've released the other four games in the Legacy of Kain series my hopes were raised for them to bring out Blood Omen 1 soon as well. I would buy it immediately!

There is already versions online that work with win7 online. Also psn has this game so the licensing is not that big of a issue.

I understand why GOG doesn't have this game yet, but we can all appreciate them trying at least. Even though I understand the reason, I don't understand the cause really. I mean, this game is almost twenty years old. Its not like anyone is profiting off of the game anymore. The only place you can really find it anymore is on the net or in second hand shops. There's no real downside to letting GOG have the rights to it.

Ty :-) And to add to that the game seems to be compatible with WINE and has Gold status when running the version 2.0 KainSetup.exe patch from comcast.net provided in TubeAlloy's post. For those that wish to get this title it is officially classed as abandonware to the best of my knowledge. It is possible to download a copy of the game from several sites legally (around 80mb zipped). I have not linked any sites here in case there are some legal issues around this so from here on lets assume you have an original Blood Omen CD (You lucky devil!)and you need to get it running on XP/Vista/Windows 7 | 8 In order to run the game on a modern PC you will need http://home.comcast.net/~masterpisgreat/KainSetup.exe - patch to fix several issues including a freeze for CPU > 1.5Ghzhttp://nosgothica.org/games/paul_met/Bink_patch_BO_(PC).exe - fix for video files to use bink technology Additionally the game will probably run very slowly. You need the trainer available from http://nosgothica.org/games/bo1_trainer_eng.zip. Copy the trainer into the same folder as http://nosgothica.org/games/bo1_trainer_eng.zip., right click on the trainer and run as administrator. Then launch the game from the trainer. Once in Blood Omen pressing "9" will fix the speed issue. Additionally there are some nice tweaks like saving the game at any time by pressing F10 but if you're a purist like me you just need the speed boost. NOTE for the BO1 patcher you need to give it the directory Blood Omen is installed in, sometimes you will need to delete a "/KAIN" that the patcher adds to the path. ADDITIONAL NOTE - For some, if not all, of these files you need to right-click and "run as administrator" in vista + in order to give them the permissions they need to run. DISCLAIMER - I scanned all of these files with Avira as of 11/02/2013 and they came back clean. Additionally I feel these are community files provided by guys that love these games as much as we do and for that I'd like to thank them all. That being said you do install these files at your own risk.

The reason this isn't on GoG yet and may never be is that it'll take a hell of a lot of cutting of red tape to get it on here. The rights to this game were not soley belonging to Eidios like the other games. I do hope it gets on GoG but I don't have high hopes.

having BO back would be great - they could have to incorporate the fan made patches which made BO possible to run on win7, like they did with SR1. It´s not as simple as with BO1 on psn.
