Arrr matey! It’s a pirate’s life for me!
Grab your parrot, your eye patch, and sail the Caribbean in search of adventure, treasure, beautiful maidens, or all of the above in Pirates! Gold Plus. With a letter of marque in your hand, you can fly the flag of France, the Dutch Republic, England, or Spain. Change your loyalties as you see fit, all in the name of fame and profit. You won’t be sailing alone--your rough and ready crew comes along with you. Don’t forget to split the spoils with them or you may find that you're the one who's walking the plank.
You begin with a letter of marque, a humble ship, and a bit of gold. As a privateer for either the Dutch Republic, France, England, or Spain you’ll hire your crew and set sail for treasure and adventure. Discover lost cities as you put together treasure maps acquired from seedy pubs or rescue your long-lost family members.
Bombarding enemy ships with hull-crushing cannonballs. Crossing swords with scurvy rogues. It's the life of high-seas adventure when you journey through the swashbuckling world of Pirates! Gold Plus.

I got this game on 6 floppy disks when I must of been about 9, my mother thought it would be a good educational game. I played it constantly for years afterwards. The manual was full of interesting information about ships and the history of the time (I spent evenings just reading it over and over and I still have the manual to this day). You are a pirate / privateer, you are onread more the Spanish main, now have fun! It's a classic you can join with countries, plunder cities, find treasure, literately years of fun! If you loved port royal 1/2 or similar you are doing your self a disservice if you do not buy this game!

I'm tempted to leave the review there since it pretty much says it all.
This pack contains some of the most fun I've ever had in gaming, finding a legendary treasure with only one map piece, rescuing kidnapped relatives from evil spaniards, capturing the treasure fleet but being the only person in my crew to survive and racing to the nearest port before the game checked my crewread more levels, realised I didn't have enough for one ship much less 5 & sank all my boats on me...
Truly fantastic stuff.

What can I say about this game? Endless fun combined with learning history and geography! Because of this game one of my dreams is a cruise to the Carribean! Elements of roleplaying and many mini games from arcade naval battles to swordfighting and diplomacy while you try to survive as a mighty pirate!
