Once again it is up to you, the nameless hero, to unite a torn land; Myrtana is not faring well. The peace between men and orcs, already built on shaky foundations, is crumbling to pieces for good. Gorn, the new ruler of Gotha, is raising an army and is sending wave after wave against Trelis, where the orcs have gathered behind the banner of their leader Thorus. The ruler of Rhobar frets on his throne, unsure if he should take sides in this conflict--and if so, for whom should he fight? Silden and Geldern are suffering under the skirmishes. The inhabitants are asking if Gorn has lost his mind and who can stop him now. Not only that, but you're not popular at the moment, as the promised peace of a thousand years has been exposed as a deceptive dream. Regain the trust of the settlements and their leaders, discover why the wars are brewing, and unite the quarreling empire once and for all!

Gothic 3 (with community patch) is in itself a great game.
This expansion, however, isn't.
After the "departure " of the games original developers (Piranha Bytes) to greener pastures, the publisher decided to milk their rights to the series and hired an indian studio to make them an expansion for the lowest cost possible.
And yes, it turned out exactly like you would expect.

The enhanced edition can't make up for the Forsaken Gods expansion being a utterly limited and pathetic reworking of the amazing Gothic 3.
Anyone who's played Gothic 3 will immediatly understand how much Trine Games just have no freaking clue what made Gothic 3 so amazingly good. The open-ended nature of the world and all your decisions. Pitting factions against each other andread more picking sides. Extremely limited world and limited decisions and completely abysmal writing and changes over Gothic 3.
In a way the Forsaken Gods expansion was a good thing in that it highlighted just how much is actually going on in Gothic 3, and how much went into making that game the game it is. My respect for Piranha Bytes grew a lot from trying to play this pathetic piece of crap.
Anyway it's a complete and utter failure of a game, and the enhanced edition doesn't do anything to help it. And this is the first time (nevermind garbage like Empire Earth 3) that I will whine about a game not having any place on gog. This game is TRASH and has no place on this site.

First of all, don't listen to the reviews that say it's the worst game on GOG and that you shouldn't buy it. It's supposed to be a standalone expansion for Gothic 3 (which is an awesome game if you ask me). It offers much less choice and the main storyline is fairly linear, but there is still a huge world to be explored and some sidequests to be done. The whole thing isn't as muchread more polished and lacks depth compared to previous Gothic games. With the latest patch made by the community it's very playable and I didn't encounter any techincal issues or bugs myself. The graphics are great, especially on max, but you will need a decent machine. Don't think of it as a Gothic game, but as of a casual RPG for a few afternoons. The price is definitely too high now, but for a possible $5 on a sale, I'd say go for it.
