Gothic 2 is an incredible, huge game that gives you plenty of different stuff to do. Hunting, skinning, cooking, rune-making, forging, mining, lockpicking, pickpocketing, sneaking, potion-making, herb-gathering, praying, etc. etc. There's even different guilds to join which each give your character a different path of development. This game cannot truly be explained, it can onlyread more be played. :D
The only reason I give this game 4 stars is because of the controls. While not as bad as Gothic 1, where you sometimes had to hit two buttons to perform one action, it's still not very intuitive. Yes, you can remap the keys to a certain extent, but I wish there was a way you could redo the whole control system for those that want something different, like allowing a point-and-click interface, for instance. This, unfortunately, had put me off from the game when I first got it and I didn't play it again until several years later. But if you stick with the game for a while, eventually the controls will become second-nature to you and you'll discover the awesomeness that was hiding beneath.

Despite a few minor flaws & bugs(which have slowly been fixed, mostly) and an initially steep and frustrating combat/level up system, it is quite possibly one of the best free roaming action/RPG games around. With 3 major path choices there is a lot of replay value. You just need a lot of free time to get into it.

I realy love this game. Its combat system is great, the level system is great - giveing great freedom. The "guild" system makes it fun to complete this game many times. The story is epic, and even better if you play Gothic 1 first. Only negative thing I can say about this great game is the difficulty, as the game is realy difficult in the beginning, and gets easierread more and easier as you progress. If you like RPG's, and you dont mind loading a few times, this is the game for you!
