What's cool about it:

  • Journey to a fierce jungle where savage dinosaurs, stone-age tribes, and mad scientists make their home!
  • A highly interactive world where you can harvest plants, gather minerals, and craft items from gathered materials.
  • An old-school RPG in the tried-and-true Ultima tradition.

You, the Avatar, have been transported by your Moonstone to the primitive and savage world of Eodon. There, you must work towards uniting the native tribes to face a common threat: a race of gigantic ants known as the Myrmidex. You won’t be alone, however, as you will be assisted by Professor Rafkin, ace reporter Jimmy Malone, and the exotic jungle princess Aiela. Take control of strange and powerful shamanistic magics and confront a varied bestiary that includes vicious dinosaurs and even mad high priests.

Worlds of Ultima 1: Savage Empire was built using a modified Ultima VI engine; it’s familiar to long-time fans but it’s also a great starting point for people who are new to the world of Ultima. Featuring a text-based conversation system along with turn-based combat, Worlds of Ultima 1: Savage Empire should find a permanent space on your hard drive.

One of the best and most detailed !

Posted on 2012-06-18 11:08:52 byDerwisch's avatarDerwisch:

I should still have my original Copy and Box of a Game , that I really loved as a kid ! There is so much you can do in this Savage Land ... Its just amazingly detailed !!
I mean : go to a river and fetch some clay and make some kind of ball with an opening in the primiive pottery in one of the villages . Search for wool , make cloth out of it ( right equippment needed ) , thenread more search for salpetre , sulphur and of course coal ( burn some wood ) . Put the gunpouder in the ball of clay , put the stripes of cloth in the gunpouder , put the cloth in the ball ... BINGO !!!
Use fire and you have your selfmade , primitive but effective Bomb ! And you need everything you can get against the savage Land with its Dinosaurs and monsters ! This Game proofs : Graphics are not everything ! But Atmosphere and Storytelling are much more important !
Get this !

Old School Gem

I know this is a pretty old game with very dated graphics, but when I was in college this was one of my favorite games. I still have my original box game on 5 1/4" floppies, but I do not have a working 5 1/4" floppy drive. I am so excited GOG has this game now and being FREE this is like Christmas in June.

Savage Empire

One of the defining games of my childhood, and it took me YEARS to learn all of the game controls and features. Logic puzzles, sweet gear and text based NPC interaction makes this a game that all children should be challenged with.
