Description

Discover the grim dark universes of Warhammer where there is only war. From Warhammer 40,000 to Warhammer Fantasy and more - discover it all on GOG Warhammer Franchise page.

“What was it like, back then? Just sheer joy, I’m told. Entire civilizations, rendered down for stimulants. Stars drained dry of their power, for a decade-long soiree. Oh, to have been alive and powerful in the last days of Empire - before She-Who-Thirsts…”
- Gyrthineus Roche, former Archon of The Last Blade.

The Drukhari are an ancient race that fell into degeneracy and depravity, with their remnants only surviving in immense Webway cities. Though they have suppressed the psychic power of their Aeldari kin, they have replaced it with preternatural agility and rapacious cruelty. Their lighting raids from the Webway carry off wealth and captives to dark Commorragh where they suffer intensely throughout their short lives…

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Power from Pain: As pain spreads across the battlefield, Drukhari are invigorated, thriving from the suffering. Their units gain additional bonuses depending on their experience level.
  • Corsair Outposts: The Drukhari rarely venture outside the webway, save to loot realspace resources. Their cities have a reduced growth rate, but it can be improved by controlling more outposts.
  • Raid from the Webway: The Drukhari strike swiftly from the webway, before vanishing with their plunder. Pay influence to create temporary portals and activate webway gates to move your raiding party across the map.
  • Raider Fortress: The Aeldari and Drukhari are forever battling over their access to the webway. Found cities on activated webway gates from which you can unleash your forces on Gladius Prime.
  • Soul Hunger: The souls harvested by the Drukhari are an invaluable resource used for their malevolent schemes. Destroying an enemy unit rewards you with influence that can be traded for economic boosts and combat effects.
  • Combat Drugs: The Drukhari’s foul Haemonculi render down some captives into powerful stimulants. Infantry units can pay with influence and hitpoints for temporary buffs that allow them to outperform their opponents.
  • Betrayal Culture: Drukhari are a vicious race, and only a huge display of riches will convince them to serve—as long as it also serves their interests. Drukhari cities have lower loyalty but gathering influence grants more loyalty.
  • Blade Artists: Blades have an omnipresent place in Drukhari culture, and each commorrite learns this from a young age. Drukhari units get bonus armour penetration in melee.
  • Raiders tactics: When attacking a new prey world, the Drukhari attack en masse from their specially designed vehicles to land troops as close as possible to the fighting. Drukhari transports are all assault transports and Drukhari infantry units can gain combat bonuses when disembarking.

Really Interesting Faction

This is one of a very few games where I don't mind paying full price for the DLC because I really like the game and it has a native Linux support, something I really appreciate, especially in this genre. For the DLC itself, so far so good. This is probably the hardest early game faction so far. Units are really weak by themselves. This faction is designed to make you use the various special abilities and you actually have to for success. Even in the late game units die very easily but most can hit so hard if you manage your army well you'll prevail by taking out more of the enemy before you die. This review is based on the earliest build with this faction.

A great addition, but not without issues

One of my favorite factions, but like with the craftworld eldar the webway gate mechanics are pretty trash. To explain a little, the webways are almost entirely useless if you play with a lot of nuetrals or too easy to abuse if you dont play with any. The temporary portal does make it better on the dense nuetral end than the craftworld, so there is at least that. Overall the faction is lacking too many units and I do not see how they could add enough with more unit packs. I assume there are not too many more to come, if any at all. ....Seriously, who the hell chose that model for the wyches, WTF!... and helmets, where are the helmets for my warriors! your lack of head protection is disturbing. Aside from the webway, lack of units, and the wyches what remains is pretty dope. The transport focus is interesting and fitting, the heroes are all pretty useful, and the wracks and the other models are very slick. The mobility of the summoned portal is very nice and makes them one of the easiest factions to move around long distances. I would give it a 7/10 solid. -2 points because of my skill issues with webways, and -1 for the wych unit, seriously, why? The lack of grotesques, talos, and others is tragic, but none of the factions have been added with a complete roster so maybe a -1 for the game in general or the company rather than the dlc itself.

space dark elves

People complain about the price. Firat of all, this is the 11th faction released for this game. That's 7 extra factions on top of the 4 you het with the base game. For reference, most strategy games do not have more than 4 factions and if they do they are reskins of each other. Warhammer 40k is an expansive universe so, as a game developer, you simply cannot put ALL factions in the base game because the studio will go bankrupt before the game is released. You don't like the price or business model? Fine. Don't buy it. Vote with your wallet. Gladius is a very good game which has the most official warhammer 40k factions of any other game to date. You don't have to buy all the factions. You don't have to buy the game if you don't like it. It's as simple as that. The DLC is good at what it does. It adds the dark variant for the Eldar just how Chaos Space Marines did for the Space Marines. If you like the Dark Eldar it's good dlc which you will be able to get at a discount in several months. :)
