In all honesty, this is a pretty bad fighting game: Shallow, with poor balancing, and somewhat iffy hit detection, but still - I kind of like it
It's got some sort of very 90's style, and some of the characters are hilarious or just 90's retro-cool, which may be the same thing to some people. Not me, though; I unironically love the ripped jeans with matching vest, and I will beread more getting this game for the nostalgia, and will play it for the same reason. Its contemporaries, OMF 2097 and Street Fighter II (not the horrible PC version of SFII, obviously!) have aged much better and are still good, but this game will always have a special place in my heart.
I couldn't recommend it to anyone else, but it's not without merit - it has charm, after all.

Ultimate Body Blows was a respectable (but not great) Amiga and early PC title, but these systems had relatively few decent fighting games available at the time. This game just doesn't hold up to the ravages of time, unlike other GoG classics. The graphics look a bit too primitive, with limited colors and very stiff animations. You can also spam "power moves" to defeat opponents.read more There's not much depth or strategy to this game. The music still holds up pretty well, but that's not enough to justify a purchase of this game. Seriously, I highly recommend you watch some gameplay footage of this game on Youtube before purchasing this.
Unless you have a serious case of nostalgia for this game, you're much better off spending your money on one of the other fighting games available on GoG, such as 'Street Fighter Alpha 2' or 'Guilty Gear X2 Reloaded.' (I gave Guity Gear five stars, by the way.) If you're looking to support 'Team 17' developed games, any of their other games on GoG are better games, particularly 'Worms' and 'Alien Breed,' both of which still hold up well and are great games.
I don't see any reason to consider 'Ultimate Body Blows' other than extreme nostalgia. I'm sorry to say it, but it wasn't that good of a fighting game to begin with in 1994, and the problems are really apparent in 2013.

Playing sure was fun twenty years ago, when playing the arcade blowkbusters such as Street Fighter II at home was but a dream. Now that this dream has come true, you have to face reality: Ultimaty Body Blows is just a pathetic game, with poorly drawn graphics and anti-charismatic characters. If you want a decent fighting game for PC, go check One Must Fall 2097.
