The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day is an interesting indie adventure and puzzle video game from the year 2016. The video game has a very engaging story. The graphic section is beautifully imaginative. The control can be a little rough for some players... you'll get used to it! :P
The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day is a short video game. Without being perfect it gives you a good experience and leaves you with a feeling that you want more. So a sequel is more than necessary. Highly recommended.-
Game is short, no, sorry, short does not begin to cut it.
This game is just a prologue.
As soon as things start to get interesting and you stop being glorified janitor it just...stops.
And I mean it...to be continued and all that.
It is also a cross between a walking simulator (except with no actual walking, locations are tiny) and a point and click...except without any actual puzzles. Seriously here is a difficult "puzzle" from this game : here is a ladder, I need to find something to lower it down...hmmm....how about that pipe that just sits there in the next room... brilliant!
And controls...oh my the controls, let me just tell you, I had flashbacks from the first alone in the dark. You move your character with WSAD and the direction in which your character goes depends on the camera angle...oh and you do not control camera angles, and sometimes (if you press button long enough) it suddenly DOES not depend on the camera angle... pure beauty.
It is also hard to get invested in the story since our character could not give two shits about humans and is basically being bullied into helping the resistance (do not even ask me why resistance help humans...)
Dialogues have all the charm of decomposing body, there is nothing there.
AVOID...AVOID... I bought it for almost nothing and I still think about writing to GOG so they pay me for wasting my time.
My friend listen to me, you have limited amount of time in your life, cherish those moments, there are hundreds better games out there, avoid this one like a plague.
This is a real fun little game where you play a robot in a world where the humans who built you are gone and you live on what they left behind.
The story will take you on a 2.5-3 hour trip through this world, which for the price (especially with the currently reduced release discount) is fine imho.
Graphics are good (game's a few years old) and the soundtrack is great. I read some complaints about the voice acting which I never understood since the deadpan understated delivery is really fitting considering it's robots talking.
Flaws are the action sequences which I am not really fond of. They're not THAT bad though, just a bit annoying. there are only a couple of those in the game thankfully.
The sequel which seems to be bigger and more involved is slated for release in a few months, so the story will continue.
Pros:
- good voice acting,
- Superb visuals,
- interresting world to explore and learn about
Cons:
- clunky controls. It wasn't too bad playing with an Xbox controller, tho.
- Puzzles are really too simple. Maybe I'm used to more difficult puzzles with my library of point-and-click games, but these puzzle are for kids. Sometimes, there are mini-games to perform actions, but I wouldn't call them puzzles.
- It took me 2 hours and half to complete the story, and this is with some running around time. It's so short it's not worth the 17$CAN it's sold for. Get it on sale.
This is a point and click game that desperately want to be a first person exploration game.
The result is a game with very limited mobility, awkward viewing angles that when you move from seen to seen sometimes flips you back and forward between the seans as the viewing angle is opposite.
Like many has mentioned before the save states is very far apart so if the game crashes you have to watch through a lot of unskippable cut seans.
Worst of all is that his is just a chapter from the game but nowhere in the description is this explained.
