Very slick, but overpriced and lacking

First off, this game is very well done. It's graphically impressive, but could use some settings to tone it down a bit as it's kind of intensive. It's almost on par with the graphics as Resident Evil 7. When it comes to an arcade shooter, the flow of it (or how the game feels) is very important. This game nails it really well. It's smooth like butter. But there's just small details I miss from the original. The destructible environments, the animations of killing the enemies (Ragdoll physics are fine, but the original animations were more satisfying imo), and that's about it. The biggest thing, however, is the price. $25 is way too steep for an old rail shooter such as this. I think if you added a VR option, it would make it more appealing and justified in that price tag. And before people say VR is not a good idea, Until Dawn Rush of Blood pulled it off so this game could too. This remake opens a LOT of doors to make it better, so hopefully they will listen to the community and add more value to this game.

For Fans of HOTD

I see alot of people complaining about the length. But with arcade games like this you come back for the high score and unlockables. I am growing older now, but this game made me smile like a kid again and brought back long distant memories. If you are nostalgic for the original arcade games, I definitely reccomend this. It would have got a 5 star from me if it had proper light gun support. Now bring us HOTD 2 on here, my personal favorite.

Remembering a classic!

This is a wonderfully remake of the original arcade classic. Well worth the $24.99 cost. It’s worth noting this is a remake and because of that it is very short, just like the original BUT they added additional difficulties and an extra mode for replay ability. The only downfall with the GOG version is it appears to be out of date compared to Steam which includes options like turning off the in game crosshair. Worth mentioning for the Light Gun users out there I’m using a Siden light gun without issue (loads of fun) after applying a fan made patch to fix the aiming. The devs seem to be receptive and listening to feedback around additional features for light hun users!

Get it when it's on sale

The game looks great, the blood is goopy and splats spectacularly. But it's faithful to the arcade game, so it's very short. On my first go, I got to the end in less than 40 minutes. That said, you can choose different paths on later playthroughs. I've also found it to be quite buggy. On my second play, one of the doors simply didn't open, the game just came to a stop, with flashing lights and background noise still going on. I had to exit and restart. On my third play, I got to the end, entered my name... and it wouldn't let me save my name and continue. Others have claimed it stutters, but I haven't experienced it myself (I believe them, though). Despite all that, I still really enjoyed what I've played. If you like these sort of games, get it, but only get it on sale. It's normally over AU$37, which is ridiculous. I paid less than AU$13 on sale, and honestly, that's probably still a little high.

Liking it Way More than I was Expecting

It is not a bad remake. It's a budget, faithful remake of the original (which wasn't a blockbuster release either). The game is on-rail shooters that can be completed in one sitting depending on the difficulty of your choosing. But the campaign offers some replayability as you have multiple path in-game and 2 characters to choose from. There is also a Horde mode. The shooting is pretty satisfying, most enemies can be gunned and decapitated in 2 - 3 shots. The ragdoll animations are nicely done. You can turn on the auto-reload if you having difficulty in some intense gunfight. There is also a local / couch co-op, which I felt the game really meant to be played. Especially in harder difficulties as you can focus on your side of screen. The game supports all kind of inputs and controllers natively, which comes very handy as I was experimenting with different controllers and even the classic keyboard and mouse. The game is powered by Unity engine which can looks generic at times. The graphical options are minimal. You can only toggle on or off some of the options such as AA, bloom, motion blur etc, but there is no complete customizations of the graphics. There is a user mentioning the enemies can be hard to spot as they are blended into the background, which is partly true. You can toggle the flashlight to combat this. My only issue is the audio volume sometimes can be extremely low for no reason. The BGM for example, became inaudible which seems more like a bug than a feature.
