Plot Changed Due To Patreon Standards!

It should be obvious that many AVN's are funded through Patreon. Well, Patreon has been getting strict as well as itch.io around games involving inc**t as this one does. From The Patreon: "You the protagonist, are an 18 year old that is about to finish highschool. You live with your mother, father and a hot sister (Mia). The game starts 2 days before the end of school. You are behind in schoolwork and need to catch up on studying to pass. Your parents are going on a trip to France for a week. You are studying late at night when your sister comes home drunk." Since this is a no-go on Patreon and Itch.io the labels are now customizable. Mother, Father and Sister can be cousin or friend of you want. You can call them cookies, tbh. Doesn't matter. Regardless of what you call them though, the mother and father are still written as such, as well as your sister Mia. The game is described an alternative take on the RPG Maker game "My Sister Mia." The game also contains NTR and with a family involved, I'll bet that gets interesting. These are just a few things I think you should know before playing the game. Graphics aren't so great either, you can tell that the dev was still getting his bearings here. I would only recommend this if you liked Lust Theory and want more. I guess if you're into the hot sister or hot mom fantasy, this will work for you. But some folks will be put off by this and I understand. Again, check out Lust Theory first.

A bad rap for nothing!

Sure this game gets some people upset as it contains inc**t. People must like it as many AVN's do the same. I'd rather they stayed away from inc**t myself but you will miss a lot of good AVN's if you can't get past it. Personally this was one of my favorite AVN's of all time out of the 200 plus I have played. Well worth the money IMO as are the other Inceton games available. Note I did not get Summer With Mia S1 on GOG but I would have if it was available at the time. People need to remember the N in AVN stands for novel. A fictional story! If you don't like it don't pay it. Simple enough.

If new to AVN's, very good first AVN

GOG's NSFW sale caught my attention -- sex sales. I selected "Summer with Mia Season 1" as my first AVN to play as it was only 3 GB. I was not disappointed with my first session being three hours, hoping to complete the story. This was a very good first AVN. The game starts with confusing prompts, for those that want to change relationships to prevent taboo acts among a family unit. I attempted to answer the prompts to define relationships, but ended up with the "mother character relationship" defined as "room". My scenario was Mia and I are friends, staying with my brother and his wife. I'd recommend that the developer suggest relationships and give an option to fill in the blanks, for example boss and wife with two interns from work. The game also has one other prompt about characters having multiple relationships. For someone new to the genre, I did not understand based upon the prompt and it would have been nice for the developer to explain. I selected "no", but based upon activities encountered during game play, I am not sure of the impact. The encounters have enough jiggling to be stimulating and most are from the male perspective. Most body parts are unnaturally sizes, but that's part of the appeal. I am not a woman, but if females are fine with the traditional male-created porn, then the title should appeal to them. Plenty of shots of the male member for the eyes during encounters. The game starts out giving you a choice as to where to go in the house. This disappears as the game progresses. The player does receive occasional prompts to make a choice. After getting into the game, I did not miss navigating the house. The game offers over 50 save slots, automatic saves and a quick saves. It also has a gallery, so once a scene has been viewed during progression in the novel, the gallery makes for an easy way to return to a favorite encounter versus having to rely on a save slot. Found one gallery entry that caused the game to crash.

It starts as sandbox

... but that idea was dumped very quickly. After a few "click on this door" actions, the game turns into a VN. The plot ist ok, one can restore the relationships he likes right at the beginning, but it would often make so much more sense if people called each other by name. The story starts interesting enough, but is quite shallow, nothing out of the ordinary, there is not much depth in it other than getting someone into someone elses pants and a few pranks. What's fun is that both main characters think that they are tricking each other, not knowing that the other saw behind most of the scheeme the whole time and just plays along trying to get the upper hand. If the writers didn't let the characters use alcohol and drugs to get to their goal, it would have been fun to explore this further. Sadly after a while it all changes to the worse, at some point the former all so shy Mia ends up on a stripper pole to earn money for a dress ... yep, that bad. And she is also willing to do kinky stuff on cam for money. Either the creators got a new imbecille writer at that point or they started to listening to every nonsense their patreons wanted. From that point it gets worse and worse, the story just doesn't make much sense anymore. It's all about blackmailing and betrayal, who betrays who with whom and uses what evidence to gain what. Optionally also some kinky scenes featuring other male characters (here called 'NTR' which does not really fit) can be activated, but most of them seem to be completely out of place and it looks as if they were only included to please a certain faction of their patreons. **SPOILER** In the end Mia grows some kind of conscience and ends it all, leaving an open end for Season 2. The 'game' was remade partially, but sadly it's mostly the first half. The quality of the second halfs renders drops significantly. Also when deciding that it would be a VN instead of a sandbox game they should have changed the intro as well, turning it into a 100% VN.

Poor Characters and Branching

I started off with a pretty high opinion of Summer With Mia but by the end had some interesting issues. The biggest being that I see few if any characters to root for. The main character; Mia; Emma; the mother; the father; Sam; they are all in some way shape or form kind of scummy. I have played plenty of adult visual novels before this and I can’t think of one that I couldn’t find some common ground to relate to the characters before. The story itself also lacks much choice. It is not a kinetic novel but there is very little branching involved and let me tell you there were plenty of times I wanted some. Some of the few choices you get are even faux choices where really out of three there is just one you can pick. The models and animations were pretty good overall. There were few times where the graphics were weird such as in class where outside of the main character and Sam the rest of the students were black silhouettes. I would say that there was a time where the scene didn’t match the text in that after a party the room is described as trashed but it looks as clean as it always did. There was also very little music in the game and few sound effects. There was also a time where when there was music it started playing into the next scene and it really didn’t suit it as well as the previous one. I played the first season of Summer with Mia on Linux. It never crashed. I did notice six spelling errors. You can manually save whenever you want and there are fifty four save slots. The game did lack a lot of little options that other visual novels have such as not having the option to go back or skip text. I’d say that there are plenty of worse visual novels out there but also quite a few better ones. I finished the game in five hours and thirty eight minutes and paid $11.49 CAD for it.
