Description
A Day of Infamy
Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific and its flagship 1941 Day of Infamy campaign comes with an impressive 36,000 hex map, providing you with the opportunity to wage war from India and Burma in the west, via the Dutch East Indies, Malaya, the Philippines, Guadalcanal, the Kokoda Trail, Iwo Jima, Tarawa and Midway to the west coast of North America, at an approximately 80km/50mi scale.
The flagship campaign begins with the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on the 7th December 1941 and the rapid expansion of Japan’s Empire into South East Asia and the Pacific.
Tora! Tora! Tora!
As Japanese carriers strike Pearl Harbor, Allied forces across the Pacific and Southeast Asia face attacks from Hong Kong to New Guinea. Simultaneously, Chinese and Japanese forces clash for control of China.
Strategic Command - WWII: War in the Pacific offers the opportunity to command the forces of 7 major powers, including Japan, Australia, China, the USA, UK, and USSR. Engage in battles spanning both land and sea, from Okinawa to Burma, and experience the conflict through immersive 3-D unit graphics or NATO counters as Japan strives to seize resources and weaken Allied fleets and armies.
Mini-Campaigns
There are 5 quick-to-Play Mini-Campaigns, from the Soviet-Japanese clash at Khalkhin Gol in 1939 to the climactic invasion of Manchuria in 1945:
1939 Khalkhin Gol – Nomonhan – Soviet and Japanese forces clash for a second time in the east.
1942-43 Solomons Campaign – the US begins its campaign to fight back against Japan. US Marines under the command of Vandegrift have landed on Guadalcanal, and a major battle is about to begin.
1944 The Marianas Campaign – the US launches Operation Forager with amphibious landings on Saipan, Tinian and Guam, with the aim of securing these locations prior to the liberation of the Philippines.
1945 Iwo Jima – US forces have been ordered to capture this island, only 750 miles from Japan. The Japanese defenders have been subjected to several days of bombardment by the US navy, however they are well dug in and US Marines will be needed to defeat them.
1945 August Storm – The Soviet Union invades Manchuria in the final battle of the Second World War. After years of neglect, the once-mighty Kwantung Army faces overwhelming odds in their efforts to defend some of Japan’s oldest conquests.

Great game play and graphics, but gave 4/5 stars due to below.
The game has too much unused map space -- map needs to be more hexes of 'action' area. Also, need more unit 'action' for allies in beginning other than China -- also, when I play allies, I really don't want to play Communist China's turn -- that and USSR should be set to NPC, IMO.
Oh Fury Software, how I love thee. They have made a few of my favorite games of all time.. their WW1 game is one of the best turn based hex strategy games I have ever come across and one of my favorite games of all time... War in Europe is another masterpiece, and while a bit more of a boardgame than a simulation, World at War is an absolute classic and still their most popular game.. as all Fury fans know, things have been getting a bit interesting as of late! These games are still very fun but are getting less and less realistic as they grabble more abstract fronts/wars. The American Civil War game is an odd sandbox, where instead of troop build ups leading to short battles, everything gets drawn out and meanders into WW1/2 style fronts that last for months on end. Well, here we have it again, the battle of Midway is just a vague idea, and these epic island battles that define the Pacific front are just a single well defended hex or two. So! Once again, we have a very very fun game that just doesn't reinact the war very well. Once again, the naval warfare is just not simulated well.. My favorite aspect may be the China front, as it is rarely covered and again is in the best style for this engine.. front based land warfare. I love Fury, and will continue to build everything that they release.. but at some point I hope they change their approach for certain wars (I know that means re-writing everything) or! Open the history books and think about researching some other eras.. they have the best front/land based beer and pretzel system hands down, either zoom in on single battles, or go back in time before complex naval warfare! Long story short, as usual, I love this game, but it doesn't feel like the Pacific front aside from the maps and units. Much love Fury!
Groups of ships and corps are not great for this theatre. Should be invidual ships and division level. China is poorly simulated in this game. I own this on Steam.
