A brilliant point-click adventure game worth every cent.
I could not stop playing this - the storyline is in-depth, perfectly written and imaginative. I am glad to see gems like this one pop-up in this reviving genre.
Worth the purchase, no question.
The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is because I can't give it 4.5 on GOG. This game is thoroughly unpleasant, so it's not for everyone. The atmosphere is more oppressive than any 3D big-budget horror game I've played since the early Silent Hill days, which is no small feat. If anyone ever played Sanitarium from back in the day, this should strike a chord or two.
I really can't say enough good about this game, as sci-fi/horror is probably my favorite genre of anything.
I'm bummed that I'm just NOW find out about this special edition with the soundtrack and some bonus stuff, so I GUESS I'll just buy it again.
I can't describe how much fun I had when I played it. "Fun" I said? "Terror" I meant.. Goosebumps all over the place. Moments that I won't ever forget; it's that good!
From a technical point of view, it's pretty much flawless: great graphics (classic isometric view) & superb sound effects that lead to a great atmosphere, simple but very good gameplay and puzzles that aren't too difficult especially for folks that don't have much experience with adventure games (like me for example). There are some scare jumps here & there but they don't feel cheap because they aren't overused throughout the game. Also, you can die. Horribly. Can't say much about this, it's a horror game after all. ;)
If you enjoyed sci-fi movie classics like the Alien series, sci-fi game classics like System Shock series and isometric horror adventure games like Sanitarium, you owe it to yourself to play this masterpiece.
I noticed the game and at the first glance it was...bit interesting. In the sales I bought the game and found out, that it was my mistake. Game is ABSOLUTELY great. Adventure part in this game is pretty easy and not much of a puzzle-solving. What is much more interesting is story and atmosphere itself. I am absolutely amazed by the story, its depth and surroundings.
As one review before mentioned, the game reminds me alot of Sanitarium. However characters and story can be even more twisted and interesting in this game. Unlike Sanitarium, story is plain and clear, and is made by found diary entries. Whoever misses the PDAs and diaries, will be making HUUUGE mistake.
This game have top-notch atmosphere of horror and beats almost any current AAA title in horror feeling. This is absolute must-have for sci-fi horror fans.
I enjoyed playing through Stasis. It is a decent game, a recently published point-and-click in a Horror/Sci-Fi setting. So if you're considering buying it I recommend you to do so instead of reading on.
I really took my time playing through the game and read every flavour text. Should you race to the finish the game can be completed quickly. There are no alternate endings I am aware of and the puzzles are really straightforward, so the replay value is zero for those who were thorough on their first play through.
Although I am not plagued by buyer's remorse I was expecting a lot more. And it's hard not to feel the wasted potential after knowing you have seen every aspect of the game. That is one of the problems of the Sci-Fi-setting: in a world where people can do much more than we can today, why are there so many restrictions? You encounter crazy cool stuff and all you can do is use it to open the next door. Frustrating.
That said it's still quite solid and one of the best recent additions to the genre, so I do recommend it I guess.
