I loved this game!

I'd call myself a mature gamer at this point. I want something easy to get into, mentally stimulating and fun that takes me away from the world. This ticked all the boxes for me. I loved the story, the puzzles, the little details, the ship building...nothing stood out that took away from the experience. I haven't finished a game in a long time, but i was very satisfied and also disappointed when I finished this one. Disappointed because I loved it so much, and I don't expect to find another game this enjoyable to me for some time to come. Thank you to the developers for making such a fun game!

The most star trek game ever

Exploration is FUN AGAIN. Yes...exploration, moving from place to place suddenly...is fun. Feeling of discovery is just awesome, alien races, strange events, ship design, space battles! And what is even more impressive...this game is surpisingly chill and easy to grasp.

Pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely blown away at the scale of exploration and the discoveries that I made. I was always in a state of wonder of what I would find in the next star system. This is one of the best games that truly makes exploration fun, especially if you're a Star Trek fan/Trekkie. The stories and the quests have clever details that help you complete them without holding your hand. You won't be able to solve some quests without giving it some extensive thought, but it feels gratifying once you do. I wish the game had more world-building about the aliens, the different planets, cities, and megastructures to immerse myself in. That's only because I love this game and I want more! I'm grateful for having experienced this game, but sad that I completed it. However, it's okay when great games end.

Part time shooter, part time detective

Gameplay: Fly around in 2D space shooting at stuff. If you have played Transcendence (yeah, that old Kronosaur game) you'll be right at home. Although you can build a more powerful ship than anything you could get in Transcendence, even with the Playership Drones mod. That's only half the game though! You're also piecing together the mystery of why you are here, where "here" is and what you should do about it. And believe me, the piecing is real! This game doesn't spoon-feed you anything. You can't just fly around shooting and expect the story to unfold. You have to go out and find it. TAKE NOTES! The game lets you make captain's notes on any planet or star. Use it! Believe me, if you don't you'll spend five hours searching through star systems and googling for the answer to "Now where was that group of furry natives who needed their Ward Stick back?" PRO TIP: You can use the search function in the missions/logs to find the notes you want. Very handy. I used it a lot in late game, especially to remember where the warp generators were. Get this game, get out that cork board and yarn and start shooting, because the galaxy ain't gonna save itself.

great atmosphere of exploration

just one example: you fly around and find remnants of old cultures or traces from other species like signs with funny numbers on it. In 99% of other games these numbers would be purely cosmetic, but here you can do some measurements, transform their distances into your starcom coordinates, draw/plot some circles and get really excited to find a wormhole exactly where you predicted it! one star less, because of some annoying dialog bugs. These are breaking the otherwise great immersion (the game autosaves after each wormhole).
