No destructible environment, easier gameplay, lighter color palette, worse lightning, less atmospheric, weird characters' movement (feels laggy). PS1 >> Dreamcast. However, the remaster runs much better, smooth as butter, so jumping is more precise and all characters are unlocked and all stages are also unlocked. A remaster of the PS1 version would have been much better game than this. So it is what it is.
This is the Dreamcast version so environments are not destructible like the PS1 verion's.
Performs great, plays just like I remember. I kinda miss having run being mapped to a trigger button. There will be times when you try to do a combo and press the stick to far to turn a walking combo into a running one.
Some of the sound effects have the wrong triggers. Like when droids block, they make lightsaber blocking sounds. Also the music played for fighting Darth Maul on Tatooine is wrong. The track should be switched between the one that plays during the second half of that level after the armadillo boss fight.
Aside from the sound glitches the game is solid.
This Game basically is a Beat'em Up.
I tested the Dreamcast Version before i bought it, compared to it, it feels snappier. I guess the Lag mentioned in the other Review is true, as i wasn't getting hit as much and my Hits landed more often.
Also, everything is available from the Start, imo a good Thing!
To the Game itself:
You choose your Jedi (or other Character) and than you just beat your Enemies, as stated, it is Beat'em Up.
So you follow the linear Level, in wich Power Ups and some Stuff to collect are around to find.
There are two Power Ups for the Sword, one makes it large, so you can hit Enemies easier.
Also a Shield, that one is very useful in Situations with many Enemies to deflect their Shots and to not get hit too often.
Also really helpful against Bosses.
You can collect up to four Shields and there are enough around, so use them.
You can block with your Sword and if you time it good enough deflect the Laser Shot to kill your Enemy, for some it is even required to do so.
You can lock on to your Enemy, by doing so you are circling around.
You have three Buttons to Attack and you can make the typical Combos of X X Y etc.
The Levels are diverse and fun enough, you also have some Mini Games.
Overall, the Games delivers what it promises, its not an AAA Releaes and the Price Tag for what it is, is acceptable.
I take one Star out for some Minor Bugs, as the Main Menu Music restarts when Browsing through the Options (this is the same as in the Dreamcast Version).
I think they lowered the Yoda Laugh when collecting Items, this feld less prominent when playing this Version.
This is a great return to one of the best Star Wars games of the Ps1 era, I really like the size and it is faithful to the era. Congratulations to the aspyr team for bringing this classic back into the spotlight for new generations to discover, I look forward to it from the return of Star Wars Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith on PS2. for modern PCS.
. . . Strong !!!
game was known for its difficulty i played only the psx and gba versions, the psx to christmas and the gba later in summer.
Its tough like in the old days, easy to learn hard to master.
Including everything for a hot couchcoop, watching clonewars or rebels beside , kind of that game. A very enjoyable Game with own touch.
You play the first episode, but with a longer breath. Every character has his own flaw. The Combo has a thankful buttonhittime but master them is more enjoyable. It has a age , but feels not to old.
Reflecting blaster feels right cause enemy act like knowing each movement from player before player knowing themself. The Enemy is strong in this game. Hitting numbers and else have the color of the lighsabers. The new stuff is quite the right dosis of pepper.
Beside of this arcade jewel there are some titles left or missing , i would really call it a wish.

I played it with a logi f310 and xbox 360 , worked well.
Its good to see many starwars games preserved or maintance so i payed the price but people could compare it with shadows of empire (age and[pc'N64'PSX] systems but not "refreshed") which is 5 euro against 20 €. Hardcore fans doesnt wait for sale , i think. One of very less games i even pre-ordered in 20 Years.
This game has everytime a place, and they did a really good job with the port.
There is always place for improvement, i cannot say it for now.
I can compare with what i remember. Its better now.
Tried download the backupfile, didnt work but can be a mistake connection o.e, i try it later again, but thats all for now i noticed.
The Game itself triggers me a feeling , a memory of sitting home, having "stormfree" and playing jedi knight jedi outcast the whole night cause opengl was working just in time. Freezed dinner and friday, highfive.
