Sin is best remembered for being one the last run and gun, over the top fun shooters. It features a varied arsenal (it even has a nuke, ), lots of baddies to plough through, plenty of secret areas and a wonderfully campy story with an unforgettable (if bizzare) ending. The game runs on the (modified) Quake2 engine, and it looks quite good for its time, with varied locales and aread more reasonable variety of character models. The voice acting for the heroes isn't very good, but at least the dialogue is pretty funny, so you might want to keep it on. However the most notable feature of this game is its hit detection. This is one of the first game to feature the now-essential headshot, but other body parts react as well. Shooting a thug in the foot will make him walk with a limp, and hitting him in the right arm will make him drop his gun and come toward you, only for you to happily shoot him in the head and end his spree. It is also satisfyingly long and will take at least 10 hours. The game does lack some polish (dark areas are nigh impossible to navigate, and the initial release was VERY buggy) , it has some underwater levels (YMMV, although I liked the change of pace and their atmosphere) and bosses can be pushovers. But in the end, this is good old-school fun. With that said, I wholeheartedly recommend this game!
P.S. The expansion is basically more of the same, but with a somewhat weaker story and an end boss that you might just find yourself cheating through.

This thing is finally on GOG, don't miss it! It is one of those obscure-yet-actually-good FPS. It's your everyday shooter; start, get keys, kill everything that stands in your way and get to the end point. Don't forget to save!
Why should you buy the game? First of all, the story is much more than a simple comic book plot; in fact, it's got even more plot than Half-Life. Youread more are this hardcore guy, and along with your witty sidekick you must battle your way through the city of Freeport to stop the drug menace. It's full of humor too! The voice acting in the game fits the comic book tone of the game and provide entertaining conversations between the characters. Some levels have multiple branching path that may lead to a different level while some may start you off at a different point in the next level. You have all sorts of weapons at your disposal including but not limited to a shotgun, machine gun and a heavy weapon. The enemies in this game are pretty challenging despite the supposedly simple 1998 A.I. The music in the game is calm when you're required to infiltrate but fast-paced when you need to kill 'em all. The levels take place at various parts of the big city. The only thing that sucks about this game is that it's unfortunately buggy; the result of rushing the game to compete with Half-Life.
All in all, buy it. It's a SiN not to play this. You are guaranteed with at least 10 hours of sinful first-person shooting action; an experienced not to be missed!

This game had the bad luck of coming out a bit buggy and on par with Half-Life... Rendering it overlooked by many people. Running the Quake2 engine, it features localized damage skins for the enemies, good hitboxes, dynamic soundtrack, belivable environments, awesome arsenal, tongue-in-cheek cheesy b-series acting and plot, clever puzzles, interacting with computer in a way yet to be done again... A must for FPS lovers.
