What's cool about it:

  • Based on the Shadowman comic from Valiant Entertainment.
  • Stalk criminals across two worlds exploring crime scenes in the Louisiana swampland, a New York tenement, a Texas prison, and many other locations.
  • Gather sinister voodoo artifacts in order to solve puzzles.
  • Send evil back to the darkness with high-caliber guns, such as the Flambeau and Violater, or use soul-destroying voodoo power.

He is coming, a possessed man is coming, a voodoo mask in his chest and lines of power in his back. Shadow Man is coming. Going after evil from Liveside to Deadside. To stop the Apocalypse. To save your soul.

Shadow Man is a nonlinear third-person action/adventure game inspired by the Valiant Comics title of the same name. The game encompasses two enormous and varied worlds. Travel through Liveside, the land of the living, as mortal Mike LeRoi, and explore Deadside, the place where lost souls spend an eternity in torment, as his alter ego, the voodoo warrior Shadow Man. Take a ride into the unexplored territories of the human psyche as you try to stop a marauding band of villains from unleashing unspeakable horrors upon the world as we know it.

A classic!

Awesome action/adventure game with a good plot, interesting environments to explore and, above all, a unique and incredible atmosphere. The game is also well-made, with a stunning soundtrack. In 99, this game was amongst those that justified buying a powerful video card. It looked impressive with fine textures and great lighting effects (liquids look fantastic). The abilities ofread more the character increase, which makes the experience exciting. Make sure to print the map and use it (take notes). If you do not know where to go, you will rapidly get stuck and bored by the toing and froing because enemies respawn. Platforms parts make for a good gameplay. If I had to find one flaw: there is too much shooting.

The Power of Voodoo! Who do? YOU do!

Shadow Man is an awesome 3D Metroidvania-style adventure. It starts out in the bayou, where your girlfriend (a voodoo priestess) informs you that some bad juju is going down. Turns out that a cult of serial killers are plotting to send the world to hell in a handbasket, and you're the only one that can stop them. To do so requires you to explore the world of Deadside, where you'llread more encounter all manner of voodoo spirits... most of whom are unfriendly.
You navigate through Deadside by gaining new powers and objects, and by collecting Dark Souls, which you're also collecting in order to keep the evil Powers That Be from carrying out their plans. Areas that you'll explore include an asylum, an unholy cathedral, an overrun prison complex, and voodoo temples. The voodoo temples are particularly important because they contain gads (powerful tattoos) that allow you to do such things as touch fire and walk on hot coals.
This is a unique game that definitely deserves your attention. It offers many hours of gameplay time, a great story, and a very unusual game world. It's also appropriate that this game was released close to Halloween because it definitely has its creepy moments (the Home Improvement Killer's level has a Silence of the Lamb's vibe, for example). Check it out,. It's current price is a steal for such a high quality gaming experience.

This is what GOG is all about! Waiting for the real gems to come along again

Played this on Nintendo 64 and PC. Still got both games. Going to have to buy it again. Dated graphics natch, occasionally too much wandering back and forth, but oh what a story. Dark, atmospheric, voodoo and at times downright disturbing, this is a classic. If only for the ride and the memories after, you have to play this at least once in your life
