A Formal Apology to my Gamepad

Dear Gamepad, I'm sorry. I know me throwing you around at the door, the computer monitor and my cat and/or dog wasn't the right way to treat you. *deep breath* You see, it's not you, it's Retro City Rampage. In exploring it's massive amount of content, I came across some really frustrating points. I know it pokes fun at the 80's and 90's and it made me smile, but there were some parts where...I couldn't control myself. I know you enjoyed my palms getting sweaty from the hard-driving, car-"borrowing", gun-shooting thrills, but those arcade games and that flying dog just ticked me off. Now that I've finished it, I'll treat you right again. Love, Me. P.S. You know they've released another patch. Would you hate me if we did it again?

Relies too much on references.

The game's plot is entirely too filled with references. I know its a nostalgia game, but it has nothing to call its own. It plays well and is pretty fun, but after a while it gets a bit boring. This game feels like it came a generation too late. If you want a nostalgia fest, grab this game. If you came for something more, but with a similar atheistic, get Hotline Miami.

Wonderful!

80s childhood. Play RCR and you will remember all the good days again. The game itself works flawlessly on a netbook (despite of little black borders) and the game itself is only 28MB small. Not as small as Grandtheftendo would be on an NES cartridge, but damn small for a "new" game! RCR is retro gaming at its best: Plenty of challenges, 2D-GTA gameplay, tons of references (Back to the Future, Star Wars,...) and a hell of a fun game! $15 is a bigger amount then it spend usually, but in this case, every little penny was worth it!

GTA + NES + the 80's = Awesome!

Wow, what an awesome tribute to the 80's (and early 90's) this game is. It's basically GTA, NES style. The controls are well done, the gameplay is an amalgamation of many classic NES games, and causing havoc around the city is fun, but the crazy references to everything awesome about the late 80's and beyond are amazing. The plot makes no sense, but that's OK since you get to ride Donkey Kong, hijack the TMNT van, join the Ghost Busters, guest star in Saved by the Bell, and drive the Delorean from Back to the Future, among other stuff. If that sounds awesome, you should try it. It is awesome.

Absolutely Stunning!

When I woke up this morning I felt the need to experience something thrilling, high octane and electric! How fortunate I was to find Retro City Rampage on sale at that very moment. Without hesitation I purchased my copy of the game and busted out an old pair fingerless gloves I have in my drawer. Geared up and ready for action I started playing, and well what can I say to describe my experience? Breathtakingly Stunning. No other words can serve justice to the magnificent game play, slick graphics and smooth sounds that I have just witnessed. My eyes tear up from the sincere and innocent memories brought on by this game and I feel as if I have been spiritually reborn. My childhood sense of wonder and excitement now fills my soul to the brim of its capacity. Those times and feelings as a kid from the 80's will never leave me now so long as I have Retro City Rampage close to my heart.
